True WIFI Scale at a Fair PriceThis scale doesn't require your phone to be nearby when taking a measurement, and reliably records weights for multiple users without fail. It lacks the extraneous features pricier models offer, which I see as a benefit- you're getting the core benefit and not paying twice as much for features you likely don't need.We had a pricier model quit working after two years and I'm not under the illusion that any of these scales are lifetime purchases. With that in mind, this scale maximizes value to get the job well without gimmickry and I'll be happy to get even a few years out of it. 5Weight Only... No FrillsI bought this scale because I didn't need all the extra features that a smart scale usually has. I don't believe those scales can give accurate count on some of the obscure metrics. I don't believe that by sending a small electric current those scales can accurately give me fat % around my organs. Nor do I care, to be honest. I only want to monitor my weight. I had a difficult time finding a scale that did not have the electric sensors on it. I didn't want to send a small electric current through my body for data I don't want. After a lot of searching, I found this scale.This scale has worked great so far. The setup was very easy and intuitive. The app is user friendly as well. This scale also very easily lets me setup different profiles for my wife and kids. When I step on the scale, it knows me by my weight and records my weight to my account. When my wife uses it, the weight goes to her account. You don't need to select any user account before stepping on. The scale figures it out.A really nice additional feature is the graph that is shown on the screen at each weigh in. You can see your last few weigh ins and how you are trending. This is perhaps the most important, as individual weight can fluctuate day to day. It's the trends that matter, and with this scale you can see the trends every day.Using this scale each day is a great way to track your weight and make sure you are worrying about trends, not daily fluctuations. The app provides a nice regression line that evens out the fluctuations. I've been very pleased with this scale and would highly recommend it. 5Why so complicated?After 30+ minutes of trying to get this thing running I found out it didn't have a cord to connect it to my laptop so I could connect the scale to WiFi!They make you download an app, then realize you need to be on a laptop to install wifi on the scale. Then you have to download an .exe then run it in order to make the thing work. The directions were either inaccurate or I was missing the cord to plug the thing in (already irritating if you have a MacBook).I'm buying a regular scale for 1/3 the price and just manually updating my fitness app because it takes WAY less time. 2FLAWED, BUT WORTH ITFirst, one of the main features I was excited about was that the scale could be used on carpet. However, the carpet feet are a joke. The scale is completely inaccurate on carpet; it's worn-down carpet that's not plush at all either. So, instead of being able to have this in my bedroom, I have to keep it in the bathroom, where there's not much room for it. Additionally, the regular feet have no grip, so the scale can slide around, out from under you. The WiFi isn't very powerful, so it won't connect sometimes. Additionally, figuring out how to connect Health Mate to Fitbit was nebulous; this is a re-branded Withings scale, so you have to use the Withings connection tool Fitbit offers (it's hard to find on their site).All that said, I like the scale at the price I paid. When on a proper surface, it's accurate compared to another scale I have. Now that everything is connected, and when the scale's WiFi works, it's seamless and helpful. 4Hooray, I can easily weigh myself! Darn, I can easily weigh myself...I did a LOT of research before purchasing my smart scale. I am simultaneously happy with my purchase and regretful of it.The Nokia Smart Scale works as advertised. This thing is really easy to set up and use. Turn on the scale, install the app, sync. If you use other apps, sync those up. I have synced it with a few apps, including MyFitnessPal. I like the tracking aspect of the app, providing a chart of your day to day weight. As someone who analyzes numbers for a living, it's quite sweet. In terms of mindfully keeping track of your weight, I can't imagine a better scale...unless there's one out there that lies to you to spare your feelings.I regret this purchase BECAUSE it's so easy to use. I put it in front of my closet, and I step on it before I pick my suit for the day. A second or two on the scale and I get my weight, my BMI, and the weather. And since it's winter, I feel like every morning, the scale tells me "You're overweight and it's freezing out. Have a nice day at work while I lie here snoozing all day." It's possibly that the harsh tone of the scale is all in my mind. (At least that's what the voices in my head tell me.)Seriously though, if you are taking your weight management seriously but want to minimize the effort, this is an excellent product that does what it says it does.Who knew Nokia still made relevant products? 5Tempermental, but works well once set up...I got this scale purely for weight checking. I got a smart scale because I wanted it to be able to automatically update apps on my phone. I had a lot of difficulty in the beginning getting it connected to wifi so that it would update and actually connect to the app on my phone. The day I got it, we tried to run the update 3 or 4 times only to have it fail each time and finally give us an error that made it sound like our wifi was something it couldn't connect to. (You need to have a 2.4ghz wifi, it can't connect to 5ghz.) After that, we left it for a while and went to investigate our wifi settings, which turned out to be variable, and automatically change depending on the connected devices. That means it shouldn't have been a problem, but clearly -something- was wrong. About three days later, I decided to give it a go again and see if I could figure out why it wouldn't update or connect to the app on my phone. This time it connected and updated with no issues at all. So I've still no idea whatsoever what the actual issue was. In any case, once the update succeeded, then it successfully connected to the app, and now it works just fine. I was under the impression that it would auto-assign weights to profiles, but so far even with only one profile I have to manually assign the weights. This is a minor thing to me. So I dock it a star for having some unexplained issue with wifi and updating in the beginning, and another for not quite working as I'd been led to believe + coming with ZERO instructions aside from 'here's how to connect it to your phone app'. There wasn't even troubleshooting instructions in that guide, or a website url to get more information. 3Shattered my ExpectationsScale worked fine since I bought it. Moved it to the other side of the bathroom and set it down on the floor and glass exploded everywhere. I saw this in other reviews and thought it would never happen to me.This literally happened while being repositioned and dropped 1/2 inch onto the floor.Scale works well and syncs well but now it doesn t do anything because it s in the trash. 1Dangerous and intrusive productTwo big issues that caused me to return the product. The first is safety.Safety - the bottom of the scale has plastic feet, not rubber. Using this on tile caused the scale to slip and move a considerable amount of distance. You can only safely use this product on carpet if you don t want sliding. Huge engineering fail.Intrusive - they promote using an app with the scale to wirelessly keep track of weight and BMI metrics. The app FORCES you to create an account via email and also forces you to agree for Nokia to process your health data on their servers. Stop it. Let my info go from scale to app without you data mining me.I happily returned the product and will buy a dumb scale if I can t find a company that respects privacy and smart enough to create a product that doesn t become a hockey puck on tile. 1it's certainly not easy. Some people on Amazon said it didDoes not integrate with Fitbit! Or if it does, it's certainly not easy.Some people on Amazon said it did, I saw some reviews and threads that said it did, but after getting this thing, Nokia's website even raves about all the apps it works with. I wasted an hour trying to figure it out. Couldn't do it. Nokia's website support was terrible and useless. Most of what Fitbit offered was broad suggestions that were not specific.The whole point of a smart scale was to integrate easily with my current health devices and apps, but this didn't do so. 1Won t sync with other apps as promised!Bought this scale so that I could use it with my Fitbit and MyFitness Pal. It seemed to be capable and the tech support kept stringing me along that I needed to unpair and re-pair the apps before finally telling me that it just wasn t a feature. Super disappointing that it will only keep data in its own app and only sync with its own trackers. If you want all Nokia products this may work for you. The scale otherwise totally works as it should but I don t need yet another app. 1
