A Very Effective Product, and At Lower Cost Than What a Clinic Will Charge!I sprained my ankle very badly, and the clinic gave me a boot to wear and told me not to bear any weight on that foot/ankle for at least 2 weeks. Unfortunately, at the same time, I was also suffering from a pinched nerve in Cervical vertebrae 5, so I couldn t use crutches or use a wheelchair-the pinched nerve weakened my arm. . With the boot the clinic gave me, my foot was moving around in it, still hurting a lot since I couldn t avoid putting some weight on it. So I purchased this after putting in the search bar walking cast . This United Ortho Walker Boot made ALL THE DIFFERENCE!! It stabilizes my foot enough that any weight I do have to put on my foot is cushioned. After wearing the walking boot for 5-6 days, I can tell my foot and ankle are improving. The air pump does take a lot of pumps to inflate around the foot, but it DOES cushion well. I use the walker with it, as I still need to not put weight on it, but when I do walk on it, it doesn t hurt. I m also sure this much higher quality item cost MUCH LESS than the lower quality other boot the clinic gave me.5The best help for your recoveryI injured my ankle a week ago and got ankle fracture. Doctor in the hospital put the cast on my foot. I just could handle it for two days. I came to orthopedic surgeon before I bought this walking boot. Doctor offered the same boot for $225!!!!! And at that moment I had no doubts and ordered this great boot on Amazon. I didn't even expect that its quality is so good and it fits properly. I have 10.5 size (US) and I ordered L size boot. Especially I like air cams. I just put this boot on my foot and press the blue button, then it becomes so tight and doesn't let your foot to do any moves. And I really like it!5Better than what your insurance will give youI've been stuck in a Cam Walker boot for 5 months now and I probably have another 2 to go. My first boot was provided by my insurance company. I've never had one so I thought that boot was fine. After my surgery, I ordered this as a backup because my insurance would not cover another boot. This is so nice! There is lots of extra padding, and I feel nice and secure in it. The compression feature is great, however, if you are on a knee scooter, the blue button will get in your way and drive you crazy. Now that I'm on crutches, I'm in this boot all the time and I'm so much more comfortable.5Adjustments for skinny feetSame story as everyone else: I needed a boot and insurance/doctor was too expensive. I'm a woman's size 7 and ordered a small, but my feet are very narrow so on its own the boot is a tiny bit loose. Not dangerously lose, it would be fine to wear, but I wanted to compress the injury in the boot. I kept the little pieces of foam that shipped inside the shaft area and use them to fill out the areas I need. I put one in the bottom, put my orthotic on top of it, and put one piece on top of my foot. That gave my foot enough height for the top strap to compress it when I pull it tight. I also put one piece of the foam folded behind my heel, and that positions my injury right under the strap. It hurts when I put it on but I can tell a world of difference at the end of the day when I take it off. I'd waited 3 weeks to get it checked out because I thought it was just bruised. This thing is great quality. I'm surprised by how sturdy it feels. I got caught in the rain yesterday and had to carry some stuff from my car. I expected to hurt myself but the boot worked great.5Nice boot, but don't plan on using it for multiple injuries.I wear a US women's 11/men's 9 shoe, and the Medium sized boot was a good fit.I purchased this boot on June 28th, for stress fractures on the heel and ankle, of my left foot. I healed up well using the boot, I wore it from July through the middle of September. The boot was fantastic, I was actually able to go about my life as close to normal as I could get, with an injury.I injured my right foot and ankle in October, didn't think anything about it, started wearing the boot hoping for similar results as the first go round. But that is not what I got. Despite the number of times I inflated the boot, it continuously lost the air, (for example: One day I had been at work 4.5 hours, and I had to re-inflate the boot about 15-20 times), and sometimes I didn't realize it had deflated until I stood up to walk, getting a jolt right to the fracture on my heel.I m not sure if this is a defect, or something to be expected, but it was painful. I reached out to inquire about whether it was a defect or just something I was going to have to deal with, because of the stated product guarantee, "United Ortho guarantees all products to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of six months from date of purchase."I never got a response past the automated "You have been assigned a ticket number, we will be in touch" email.I am disappointed that I was unable to use it for my right foot and ankle, considering the money I spent for it, which seemed a fair price, but I still expected to be able to utilize the boot for multiple injuries none the less.I hope that the people that purchase this product will have a better experience than I did, but they may not.3(I work in the hospital so I don't like to wear the same one in my home)This was a game changer for me. After getting a boot from the doc I needed a second one to wear at work. (I work in the hospital so I don't like to wear the same one in my home). This boot is so much better than the expensive one from the doc. It fits better, and I have less pain when walking in it. I am ordering another one! I wear a size 8 but the small fits me perfectly!5Good for only a few days...Don't buy! I was really happy for a few days, good support, seemed to be a good value, it worked great. After a few days to a week, the glue that holds the top three straps in place started to weaken and now it is not even HALF as supportive as it was 8 days ago when I got it. Also, when I cross my legs, the glue has ruined 3 pairs of work pants. When I zoomed in on the picture of trhe item, it shows a different configuration for the stars (without the glue). I am very disappointed now and wish I didn't purchase. Glad I waited to review. I rarely leave negative feedback, but this deserves it. I wish they would send me the pictured item and let me return this "glue boot!"1Great boot! AND CHEAP!!!!Don't let the el cheap-o price of this boot fool you: its a great boot! It's constructed well -- if not exactly the same-- as mid-priced boots. It lacks the fancy name but who cares?!I actually bought TWO boots here on Amazon (this one obviously) the one that claimed to be "low profile" really was NOT!! And it was more than twice the price of this one. However, Low Profile Boot -- which had a really nice fancy label -- had an impressive video & important looking pictures of the technology & proven statements that it was the same height as a sneaker. It also hyped up a rounder bottom. I wore it for 2 weeks, around the house only, and the bottom (which the rounder bottom was scary-slippery) started to peel off!!Here's the real deal: Low Profile just looked lower on the outside. The rocker bottom also aids in it looking lower. It is maybe 1-2 cm lower, in reality, than this boot. It was also really uncomfortable. The inside sleeve didn't go around my calves well, and there was something that dug into the inside of my ankle which was right where my incision was. The little pieces of foam (2 for the Low Profile Boot) were very thin and wore out within the two weeks I wore the boot around the house only. This boot is very comfortable. It doesn't dig in in any specific place and has 4 thicker pads of foam that hold up really well. I've worn this boot around the house and outside. Holding up very well with quite rigorous use.I wear a size 8.5 women's shoe and have on-the-larger size calves and this size Medium is perfect. You could go up to a size 10 I would think as there is quite a lot of room in the front. Some suggestions for the newbies: (things I wish someone would have told me)My suggestion is to get an "Even Up" leveler for your other shoe so you don't get a sore back or knees. You can search for it here on Amazon. It's about $30.The first time you use the boot, don't pull the Pull Up tabs out yet!! Fit the sleeve first, then, while sitting in a chair and the boot on the floor, put your sleeved leg inside the boot. Push your heel as back as you can. If you have tightness in the Achilles, you will not want to pull the Pull Up tab out until your ligaments/tendons have stretched enough to put your foot in at a 90 degree angle. So save the Pull Up tab until later. (it has Velcro to stick to the sides of the foot sleeve to keep it in place)If your Achilles is tight, stretch it out before you put the boot on for the day.Once you are in the boot, secure your toes first, then the ankle, then work your way up the boot. It's a little tricky with the Velcro straps at first. Mine would get all tangled up or fall off or stick to something else - if you stick the Velcro onto itself when removing, you'll always know exactly where the strap is.If the toe and ankle Velcro are too long, don't cut them!! Just bend it back and tuck it into the strap holder. Then it won't be hanging out.The blue inflator does work -- you just need to follow the arrows to tighten it when inflating, and loosen when deflating. Don't blow it up too much until you get a feel for how tight you want/need it to be. It will also POP if you inflate it too much or try to take it off when it is still inflated.Good luck... sorry about you wearing a boot -- but you are going to save a few hundred bucks buying this cheap gem!5Fits Tall Fat PeopleI'm 6.2 tall, over 300 lbs, and foot size of 10.5. Their guide selection is spot on. I thought I may need to get the X-Large instead of the Large because I'm fat and have swollen legs (about 21-22 inches around). However, the brace fit me light a glove. I watched the video and followed the directions. I only found it hard reaching down and handling the foot straps due to my weight but did so with only a few huff and puffs. My foot fit perfectly for my size and had no issues with straps being too small (still had more room which was great). I did not need to use the extra pads and only squeezed the air pump one or two times for fun but decided not to push my luck. I had a fractured right foot and I tend to kick in my sleep so I needed something to protect my foot while sleeping or walking to reflect on my foot. It definitely does a great job. Only thing is it makes my right foot much higher and I don't wear shoes at home so it can cause back pain if you are doing chores so I had to put on a shoe. :) Very pleased with the product and solid construction for a big guy like me. I recommend this for anyone needing to protect their ankle and/or foot while it heals. I want to give out a shout out to the Amazon delivery guy Kirk who was very professional and followed my delivery instructions, and delivered my package with a smile in very hot weather. Great guy!5Great value for foot healingI had to immobilize my foot for several weeks due to a repetitive stress injury, and this was the boot I chose. It's very comfortable, adjustable, and easy to walk in (even though I wasn't supposed to be walking that much due to needing to heal). Dealing with foot pain for months, I put this thing on and it felt great. Like, seriously great. Took all the stress off of the part of my foot that hurt, and the pain was gone for as long as I was wearing it. I ended up wearing it constantly for 4 weeks while I healed, and didn't have any problems with chafing or stink. :)This isn't a miracle cure. I don't want to give a false impression that this will be a good boot for everyone reading this review, because every body is different ... but I'm here to give a positive testimonial that it was good for me at least.5
