Had to Modify Them, but They Have Held Up WellI have high arches and I want to walk long distances. Bummer! Most running and trail shoes fail to provide adequate arch support, so I decided to order a pair of these. They are somewhat thick, so to make them fit into my shoes (height, not width-wise), I cut off the front 1/3 of the insole while carefully shaving off the transition from the arch support to the point where I cut it off. And they work great. I am now up to 7 miles per walk including the ups and downs of trails, and they are working just fine. No sore feet (more than you would expect), and even better - no blisters. The foam has a strong consistency that allowed me to shave off small pieces without compromising the remaining 2/3 of the insole. One star off because I had to modify these to fit into my existing sneaks. But the padding has held up well and offers good support and cushion for this large 200+ lb man. 4A VERY GOOD PRODUCTI do not understand this company, it has a wonderful product but does not identify their product good enough for a purchaser to understand the individual insoles very well. It was extremely difficult for me to find out all the little differences between each sole. I did use e-mail to ask questions, the staff was very helpful to me, but it took a few e-mails. People can save a lot of money by using this product. A pair of insoles measured by a Doctor is cost prohibitive. That is why I think this company should provide on the products box, details and characteristics of each insole. A person can not make a intelligent decision as to what to buy for their individual foot concerns. They should advertise properly to help people who need this product. If advertised correctly the company would really grow. Jim 5Life Saver!!I have a fairly rare auto-immune issue called Delayed Pressure Urticaria which involves getting painful deep tissue hives due to extended pressure on any body part. I primarily have issues with my feet that have always showed up a couple days after a long day on my feet, walking in sandals, or wearing cleats, etc. . . I have had issues with this for 20 years and tried tons of different orthotics/arch supports/inserts/etc. . (not correctly diagnosed for the first 15 because everyone thought the issues were related to my high arches).I stumbled on these about 5 years ago and they made an absolute huge difference for me. I buy a new pair every time i buy a new pair of shoes and immediately swap our the junk inserts the manufacturers use for these. The combination of arch support and cushioning has dramatically reduced my issues. I still have problems occasionally (especially when i am braking in a new pair of shoes) but i am at least 90% better with these.Couple nit picks that i wish were better - the red part on the bottom can get pretty sticky, and a lot of junk sticks to it. This isn't really a problem unless you are swapping these to another pair of shoes (which i have to do sometimes for snow boots or something). It also leaves some red color on the bottom of your shoes (which also isn't really a problem as you would never see it if you put the original inserts back in. Also i wish they lasted a bit longer than they do. i tend to wear out the surface of these a bit before my shoes wear out (overall i am pretty hard on inserts and shoes though). 5Feels like a new shoe.Just received this and opened it right up. They do not have lines for the sizes as guides to cut them down. Bummer! They are pretty close to size 9. I got these for my Skechers Steel Toed Work Boot. I took out the stock inserts and lined them up with these and used it as a guide to cut it to match the stock insert. It was too big to fit right out of the box. I have a size 8 1/2" foot but usually wear a size 9 in shoes. Putting these in this shoes made the shoe fit me better. The arch support is pretty drastic and i am still getting used to it. But overall they are a lot more soft than the stock inserts. I feel like i bought a new shoe. It is going to take some insetting used to but i am sure my feet will appreciate the support they give.UPDATE: Have had them on for 5 hours now and my foot is getting used to them. They feel even better now. My foot wasn't used to extra arch support but it is liking the added support. Feels really good on the arches. I will be buying these from now on. SOLD! Get you some! 5Best I've found so far for running with plantar fasciitisFor context, I'm a runner who wears US size 11.5M shoes. I've been fighting plantar fasciitis since April. There are basically two shoe solutions for PF: get a solid "stability" shoe and maybe enhance it with a thinner insole, or a thinner shoe and a thicker insole. I've tried various forms of the first approach, to little avail. This is my first shot at the second approach, with these in a pair of Nike Air Zoom Pegasus shoes. The first thing I noticed is that they fit in my shoes perfectly, without any cutting. The second thing is that *the arch is in the right place*. Most insoles I've tried have had the arch too far back, digging into the heel instead of really supporting the arch. They're pretty cushiony, but not so big that they make my shoes feel too tight. Running with these has been more comfortable than anything else I've tried so far. To be honest I'm probably on the cusp of whether I need the high or medium arch. With the high arch I can definitely feel the arch bump a bit, but it's actually kind of helpful. It makes me more mindful of how I'm landing and moving my feet, which is a good thing. When I do land a bit more on my heel (rare), the extra gel cushion helps too.I'd give five stars, but I don't really have enough miles on them to justify that yet. If they continue as well as they've started, I'll come back and revise that. 4Still on the fence with these.Im still testing these in some boots, but I did not like them in my running shoes. They did not feel natural in the heel area, they did not offer enough arch support, and did not offer the comfort that my two successful models offered. (see review below). They also stink something terrible which I have no idea why, but they are made from a very stinky material. They may however work in boots so I am still testing these out.I really wanted to write an in depth helpful review so that I could actually try and help people find some relief for their foot, back, and knee pain that they might be experiencing like I do. Before I start, let me say that from my research and testing of many different OTC orthotic insoles and arch supports I do not think they are all bad or all good. I think they have to be matched to the type of foot you have. Having said that, it can be frustrating to continuously spend money on insoles that offer no help. I have not tried everything on the market, but I have tried many and here are the results that have helped me. First, I have a size 10 foot that is wide. My foot actually measures 9.5 and E in width on a brannock device but through experience I always buy a 10 2E running shoe. Even then certain styles might be a bit snug in the width for me. I am 5'11" and weigh 194. So over the years from gaining weight, being on my feet all day in the medical field, and being pretty active, my arches have fallen. Until I found out they had fallen, I never understood why after being on my feet all day the pain in my feet, ankles, and knees, was downright terrible. Then I started trying the different inserts and some helped but most were a waste of money. You can research on the net how fallen arches contribute to this pain. For my condition, I tend to need a higher arch support that will not collapse when running and staying on my feet all day. So began my search. For my type of condition, the two best products that have worked for me are the blue colored powerstep pinnacle and the Dr. Scholls # 430 insert sold on the foot mapping machines at walmart. I do realize that these are not custom inserts, but I am trying to avoid the expensive orthopedist route as long as I can. So the powerstep pinnacle has the right amount of the medium to high arch support that I require. I can feel the lump under my arch as some have complained about, but this seems to be exactly what I need to feel relatively pain free after being on my feet all day or running my miles each evening. These do take a day or so to get used to, but they have helped me very well for the most part. Do I feel like I'm 18 and problem free again....no, but its the best I've felt yet short of spending a fortune and going the custom route. I have worn these insoles two ways. On shoes that run big I have placed them on top of the factory insole which gave just a little extra cushion and I have also removed the factory insole and used just the powerstep insole by itself. These are strictly running shoes that I have tested these in, but I have no doubt they would work in boots as well. I do not think they would fit in dress shoes. As a side note I also tried the maroon colored pinnacle max but the wedge on the bottom of the orthotic over compensated too much for my level of pronation and it was uncomfortable for me. I use the blue inserts in a stability type running shoe and this has been the best combination for me. The other insert that worked well for me was the 430 Dr.Scholls on top of the factory insole as these are 3/4 length. So for my type of foot, I have tried the green super feet which did not offer enough arch support but were very comfortable for someone who may require less support. The pinnacle maxx were great except for that square plate underneath which over corrected my pronation and was uncomfortable. I tried the Dr. Scholls arch pain relief which were terrible compared to the other 430's. They did not fit well in any shoe and the arch support while high, did not ever seem to fall in the right position for my foot. I tried the envelop 3/4 orthotics and these did not work well either. They too just never fit in the shoe right or felt natural. I tried the VIVEsole 3/4 length and these felt like they had no arch support at all and were so narrow they kept shifting around in the shoe. I am still waiting to receive some spenco's and some prolab p3 semi customs to try and see how they do.I will rate the pinnacles at a 4 because they feel about as good as my #430 Dr.Scholls and they do help a lot, but I'm sure compared to a custom they can only do so much. They were by far the best OTC I have come across in my testing so far. So if you need the higher support from fallen arches like I do, these may help you. Remember, you will feel the highness under your arch which you get used to. and you should wear them intermittently the first few days to adapt to them. Don't be afraid to try them with or without the factory insole left in place. 3Good comfort for the price. After about a week of wear, I have no real complaints about the inserts. I do wish they were a bit more firm in the arch but considering a manufacturer's need to determine a proper average for the market vs my sense of utility for my arch is the only difference; I can't really complain. I can feel the arch support but nothing like my favorite shoes (or boots) with arch support built into the sole. Apparently, I have a very arch but these inserts do add additional comfort (compared to shoe mfg insert) when I wear my tennis shoes. As far as the sole fitting my shoe, I had no issue. I wear size 12, insert was sized for 11 to 12.5; it slipped right in, heel had a bit of tacky juice on the bottom and it has not moved which is good. I gave them 5 stars since they are required to fit an average high arch, not mine. 5like the other pair of these, i am disappointed....I am a distance runner and was excited reading the reviews for these "superior" running shoe inserts. In actual use, tho my shoe size is 10.5 wise, these marked show size 10.5 are too short! My shoes are 10.5 but these are 1/4 inch too short inside my shoes thus they slip and move around in use. Also i found no improvement in the way these arch support inserts helped my fit. So i am going back to my $14 Dr Scholls shoe inserts. I much prefer shoe inserts with a more rigid arch support, not these which feel more like stale marshmallows under my feet. So, be advised tho these inserts are labeled 10.5 size, they are not 10.5 sizes, they are too short, and more info about the kind of arch support needs to be included. To me, these resemble stepping on stale marshmallows. So back to my Dr Scholls. Of course your mileage may vary. 2Good for Casual Use, Garbage for Professional UseLook, if you have high arches and you need some basic insoles so your feet don't yell at you, these will do. I've bought these insoles like 4 or 5 times, and they always did the job."But why three stars then, yuh jerk?", one might ask.The biggest glaring problem with these insoles is they have very little staying power. If you're someone who's on your feet for a majority of the day, be in for work or whatever you choose to do with your free time, these things will deteriorate in the span of a few months. I was a delivery driver for a company where is was in and our of a van every few minutes, running around, and it didn't take long for these things to wear out. So, if you're looking for something to throw in your work shoes because God hates you and cursed you with high arches, nope to these. If you just need some basic insoles for your basic shoes so your basic feet don't radiate pain into your basic body and make you wish you had robot legs, then these will do. 3AaaahhhhhI had a pair of these to hold my feet in a neutral position when I did some serious walking and wore them out. Fast forward a few years (and a bunch of weight) to plantar fasciitis and a doc who wanted to charge me almost $500 for custom orthotics. I ordered these and they feel truly fabulous in an athletic shoe - they fit my size shoe perfectly, but can be trimmed. These are thick enough that you will need to remove the original innersole from your shoe. Really awesome product! (BTW, for dress/work shoes, I use Superfeet half-insoles.) 5
