Creamy, satisfying soft brown cheeseI was on a cruise down in Antarctica and every meal, this beautiful cheese was served. I'd never had it and so, back home, I did a search to find it. I ordered Ski Queen Gjetost and was very satisfied with it. I ordered more for friends and had it sent to them too. Rave reviews!! The same creamy, lovely nutty, caramel taste so delicate yet with a robust flavor, came through. I must say, this was a wonderful treat for me, for visitors at that time, for my family. On the cruise ship, the cheese was served with every meal. It's that good and versatile; as a spread on crackers, amazing on hot gingerbread muffins, with fruit and wine - I'll be ordering more. Considering the cost of shipping was/is more than the cost of the product and I bought this at the request of my girlfriend, I was very much wanting this to be worth the cost. I would have to say after tasting this cheese it certainly is!It was SO good in my mouth it is indescribable. Creamy, sweet, smooth, elegant, groan-inducing from happiness, rich; fantastic with gluten free bread and with crackers. Too rich to eat the entire thing, but my goodness I felt like I wanted to. My girlfriend would also NOT have been happy so I had to refrain from devouring this stuff anyway.It does not look like much out of the insulated box, but once you start slicing it, you realize there is a good amount.The shipping includes an insulated container for the cheese, so if you happen to not be present to bring it into the fridge right away it is okay. The seller responded to an inquiry I had regarding this quite promptly and courteously.Bottom-line: well-worth the cost under $20 total currently (including the cost of shipping). This cheese is so good it will make you buy more. And more. And more.5Wonderful flavor.Regular commercial goat cheese is a big "yuck" for me, but I love the flavor of Gjetost - kind of like a salty caramel, though not sweet. I used to make my own when I had goats. It's made by boiling down the whey, which is the liquid left after removing the protein and fat (from when you make cheese or butter), so it isn't really like cheese. It contains all the minerals that were left in the whey, as well as some protein, and butter fat that was added for creaminess. It is considered a gourmet item, so it is expensive (it takes hours of boiling to evaporate the liquid in the whey), but I bought it as a healthy treat, because of the natural mineral content.5Best cheese change my mind!Great cheese, tried to find it and it took forever. There is not a whole food near by so couldn't get it and Amazon came to my rescue. I had a taste of this great cheese on a bus in Michigan my colleagues bought a cheese plate. If you have never tried this cheese, it s a must!5GREAT CHEEZE BUT TOO EXPENSIVEMy Norwegian wife was brought up on gjetost, so was her Mom and her Mom. It seems that it was, is and will always be Ski Queen which is a very good cheese. They always called it 'chocolate cheese' because of it's flavor. As a result on December 20th I ordered two 8.8 oz packs for her for Christmas. The didn't arrive until December 26th. The feeble attempt to keep the cheese cool didn't work as it was warm upon opening. She asked how much I paid for it and I said $40.60 with shipping. She replied that she gets this same cheese at the local supermarkets for $7.49, same size and no tax. Check the price before you order.3LOVE this cheese.This is the best cheese I have ever tasted. A caramel smoky taste that is great with fruit. A little pricey but great for a treat. I imagine a mac and cheese casserole with this would be decadent.5It arrived very fresh with dry ice. However, in the US it has always been hard to find, and I found it unreasonably pricey. Well this was also pricy, and it was delivered with excellent protection which impressed me. The flavor is just as I remembered it, and I am still enjoying it. It is a cheese in which a little goes a long ways with delightful flavor.5
