Makes me feel less comfortable reading, rather than more comfortable which is the ...I won't be using it. It picks up glare from a nearby window or light. Clarity is iffy. Makes me feel less comfortable reading, rather than more comfortable which is the purpose. And my vision isn't even that bad.Notice carefully which product reviews are for. Most of the 5 star reviews are for the Bausch & Lomb 2" X 4" magnifier. When you look only at the Full Page Magnifier reviews, you see a lot more 1 and 2 stars. 2It seems to be nice quality. I have tried it out on a ...I just received my B&L hand lens today. It seems to be nice quality. I have tried it out on a few rocks I have laying around the house. Focus is effortless. The size is very small. Smaller than I expected. As a geology student I will find a use for it, but I doubt this will be my "go to" hand lens when I am out in the field. I will probably use Belomo for that (diameter is bigger and quality is still good). Since size is a question a lot of people have I have included two photographs to scale the B&L hand lens. 3The way to go if you're serious.Bought this for my mineralogy lab and field geology class, It seems solid to me and is much clearer with a larger usable field of view than the cheap off-brands that some other students got, some of which cost less than their shipping. Those cheap made in china lenses work for the purposes of the class but they are of noticeably lower quality and don't seem to be 10x magnification even though they are marked as such. If you are a serious geology student / enthusiast and plan on a career in the geoscience field then this is one of the two the hand lens brands to invest in. If you like quality, a B&L or Belomo lens and an Estwing rock pick are a must, otherwise chinese crap can get you through your BS degree program but don't expect it to last though a post-grad field study without regretting cheaping out on essential tools. 5Optically excellent, mechanically poorI've owned several 10x Hastings Triplet lenses, carrying one in my pocket always, and losing one occasionally. I got the original ones from Edmond Scientific about 40 years ago.The lens quality is excellent, as one would expect from B&L. The metal case, too, is good, but the hinge is a long rivet and this is poorly executed. The rivet is probably installed by a machine but was set inside the hole, so it has pulled out of the hole on one end. Wah! 3Excellent optics...This Bausch & Lomb loupe is a replacement for another one I have that is 54 years old. Like the old one this one is crafted with the best materials and excellent glass optics. One thing I like from this loupe is the larger size of the glass compared to the old one which is a little bit smaller opening. If you look for precision instruments like a loupe, this is the quality you need to know, don't look for anything else. 5Not as good as I hoped.I'd love to say this worked as well as I wanted for my mom suffering from some poor vision problems and needing magnification. While it does a good job with the magnification I felt it was blurry and took some moving around and lifting to get less blurring and more clarity. For someone with vision concerns I felt that was a negative. 3Cheap flimsy plastic, poor quality Fresnel lens, distorted magnificationAre you dealing with Macular Degeneration? Do you think this product will help you read an entire standard 8 x 11 page? You would be wrong.Don't be fooled by the Bausch & Lomb branding. The distortion from this cheap, flimsy, stamped out plastic Fresnel lens is just pathetic.My Mom pretty much tossed this product away after 10 minutes. Good view. Relatively expensive.This is my first purchase of a jewelers loupe. Just received today and have not used but a few minutes. Relatively expensive. Very small. Bought to view my coin collection better. With adequate lighting can see coinage good. Still strain my eye(s) though. 3Excellent sturdy tool.This is a nice sturdy tool for field work. My brother who is a botanist with a PHD recommended I get one. I'm sorry I waited so long!Perfect to toss in my pack while hiking. 5This is an excellent loupe for coin collectorsThis is an excellent loupe for coin collectors. Please keep in mind this was designed specifically for coin collectors, so the lens is quite small. For us, it's about the best thing going for the money. 5
