The Price Has Now Reached the Level of "ABSURDITY" ! !Well, I HAD planned to write a GLOWING review of this product since (PREVIOUSLY) I had enjoyed it for a long time now . . . But since its manufacturer has now decided to make its price _RIDICULOUS!!_ I am now forced to boycott this Absurdity UNTIL (If Ever) its price, once again, re-enters the realm of SANITY. 2My new favorite breakfastI ordered two different brands of meal replacement shakes to try them out, I should have just stuck with this one. It tastes good and does a fantastic job of keeping me full for hours (about 5hrs for me). It has a bit of a gritty/chalky texture which I don't mind as long as it tastes good. The taste is not terribly sweet but you can still taste the chocolate and caramel and I don't necessarily taste any one other ingredient over those tastes, which is great. You will want to USE A BLENDER BOTTLE or a blender to mix this with the liquid of your choice (I recommend milk or vanilla soy/almond milk, what have you, but chocolate soy was just too much chocolate). This stuff does not mix easily with liquids and trust me, you do not want to choke down the disgusting clumps of slimy powder, it's just not pleasant. On a good note though, I'm finding that when I start my morning off with my Phood shake, I feel a lot more alert and ready for the day than when I just eat a bowl of cereal or some yogurt. I highly recommend it (as long as you're okay with the texture thing) and I'll be ordering this many more times for sure.UPDATE: After ordering this several more times, I've been drinking this stuff for a while now, and I really don't notice an odd texture to the shake that I had mentioned before, and I've come up with some ways to really spice up the flavor.My ultimate favorite is powdered peanut butter (blends better and less fat) and chocolate caramel Phood. I mix it in a blender cup with two scoops of the powder, one scoop of peanut butter (using the same scoop as the Phood), and for liquids I fill my small blender bottle with 2/3 milk and 1/3 water to keep it from being too thick. This works really well with vanilla Phood as well, very tasty.I also found a combination that makes the vanilla Phood taste fantastic! Just mix in your favorite Greek yogurt with fruit, I find that cherry, blueberry, or peach work best. Add a dash of cinnamon and it practically tastes like pie, especially blueberry. Blueberry is not even close to my favorite yogurt flavor, but the blueberry pie shake is just that good. I recommend using the same milk to water ratio as before to prevent it from becoming overly thick. 4All I taste is stevia powder.No added sugar is great! Yacon, monk and lucuma fruits as natural sweeteners? Fine. But all I can taste is stevia... I used only half the serving for 16 ounces of unsweetened hemp milk and unsweetened almond milk yet I can barely chug it! Not even close to "chocolate caramel." Is there any company out there that can make a completely unsweetened powdered meal shake without even a little stevia? Pack a little side packet of stevia for consumers to mix into their canister IF they want that version but please, if anyone is listening - can there be an entirely no added sugar + no natural sweeteners version? I'd love to add my own fruits to shakes or my own stevia powder if I must but doing so with this already sweetened version just makes it taste like I'm downing a yucky sweet shake with that signature "sugar-free"/stevia aftertaste. And I've not used the word "yucky" since I was half my height.Unfortunately, my inability to down the shakes prevents me from sharing how my energy levels, tummy satisfaction and overall health has been affected by this product. All I know is I am never buying this again.I bought vanilla too and now reluctant to try it. 1Great product, find a smoothie recipe you likeI love this stuff. It has really helped with stomach issues. I was using shakeology and wary about trying something new but this is pretty good. The flavor is not great when you just add water but neither is shakeology. I add a cup of almond milk, 1 teaspoon vanilla some cinnamon and ice and blend. It is very good. I've also done pineapple, banana and water which is fantastic. I think this product has helped my digestion more than shakeology did. This gives a boost of energy in the middle of the day as well which I often need. 5New Formulation isn't good anymore (based on Vanilla)We were big fans of Phood Vanilla flavor (and Chocolate was nice for variety) until we got the new formulation.It is a turn off. Strongly different flavor that made us run to cancel our subscription.Might try Chocolate again someday if can't find another similarly healthy-ingredient meal replacement or we hear the old formulation is back. Bummed! 2Astronomical price gouging!I've been subscribed to this product for over a year since it was called Phood. It was one of the better tasting vegan proteins, but unless you wake up looking like Chris Hemsworth there is no way it is worth $55 for the 2 lb tub. I was paying $32 just last year for the 2 lb tub and even that was too much. Now they've even had the nerve to take away the Amazon subscription discount! Maybe Trump's tariffs have hit their suppliers hard but they are crazy to think people will pay this much. I am moving on to another company as their cheaper Complete Protein is completely inedible. 1It works!So far this stuff has really been working. I've lost 13 lbs. and added some muscle, too. Along with strength and flexibility training and diet modification: six small meals a day (including two protein shakes) consisting mostly of vegetables and protein, very low salt, no sugar, low carbs, almond milk instead of cow's milk, hardly any dairy. And no soft drinks. Not even diet ones. 5Inflation Shock!I wish I could separate the product itself from the pricing criticism, but it doesn't allow that. I bought a 2 lb canister of this Phood product in July after not being satisfied with the previous vegan protein powder I used. I realize that this is not a pure protein powder, but it seemed like it should satisfy my needs. Regarding the product itself, I was satisfied with the taste, the texture and how it blended. It doesn't completely quell my hunger but it does seem to be a satisfactory supplement to go along with some of my low cal vegan meals (I am newly vegan and trying to keep my protein intake up). My complaint is that, the price I purchased the product in July was right at my upper budgetary limit at just under $40 for the 2 lb container, or about $2 per serving (I paid $38.88 to be exact). But I was ok with it then even though my other vegan protein powder was in the mid $20s. Now only 3 months later the price has increased 25% to $48.65! That's just nuts! Priced me right out of the market. I tried this brand label's pure protein powder, which is somewhat cheaper, but the flavor and mixability was not satisfactory. If the price doesn't come back down on Phood, which I hope they do, else I'll just go back to my old vegan protein powder. 2Worth trying!It's very hard to find something that is gluten-free, dairy-free, and soy free and doesn't have other ingredients that aren't really that great for you or might be possible allergen/sensitive type ingredients for many. While this might not be the most tasty powder, and it's gritty, I find if I mix it in a blender with some frozen fruit and coconut milk it is fine as a meal replacement 1-2 times a day. (I got the Vanilla one as I've yet to find any chocolate protein powders to be good.)I do wish they didn't use stevia, and just left without any sweetener in it or just used xylitol. I generally avoid anything with stevia because it gives it a weird taste among other reasons.I've been using this for a month or two now. 4FINALLY!!!! A plant based protein powder that isn t gritty or tastes like garbage!!I ve tried a bunch of plant based protein powder but this is the first one that is not gritty or tastes like fake sweetners. The vanilla actually tastes like vanilla. I cant do normal milkbased protein powders because I m mildly lactose intolerant and have asthma. Diary is a trigger for my asthma and causes chest tightness which really sucks. I know I don t get enough protein in my diet so I really needed something like this to make sure my macro nutrients are more balanced. I don t feel the urge to snack as much after one of these. I mix it with cashew milk in a shaker bottle and it comes out nice and thick almost like cake batter. If the vanilla cake batter is good I wonder if the chocolate one comes out like brownie batter. I d be in heaven if it does. I also added three ripe bananas and put it in my blender. Came out incredibly tasty for a breakfast. Will definitely be buying this again. Other than the coupon check box on the site, I paid full price for this product. I can t stand those useless reviews that that just inflate and skew product perception. This is definitely a good one to try 5
