Customer Reviews

Not tea leaves-more like tea groundsThis is loose tea but it s not tea leaves-it s more like ground tea. The flavor is good but, even when poured through a strainer, there are tons of grounds in the cup. So bad I am throwing the rest away.2Powdery tea - buy a better brandI love good black teas & used PGTips in tea bags as my daily tea for decades. But this year I learned that their tea bags (as with all tea bags) contain microplastics that are ingested with the brewed tea. Not good for health or the environment. So I tried switching to PGTips loose tea. The loose tea is nearly a powder, there are no large tea leaves in the box. In short, when you put the tea in a tea ball, much of it falls through as dust. The flavor is poor, which is to be expected given that the only tea leaves in the box are broken and crushed into tiny bits, so all oils in the tea leaves (which are what gives tea its flavor) have dried out. There were no normally sized tea leaves in the entire box! In short. I am sad to say that after being a loyal PGTips customer since at least the 1980's, I will not longer be buying their tea. I am deeply disappointed in the extremely low quality of their product.1No flavorI'm very familiar with PG Tips and have enjoyed it many times. These boxes of tea I received were a little beat up and have no flavor and very little aroma at all, and is only slightly improved if I double the amount of tea I usually use per cup. I noticed the expiration date was July 2020, only 8 months out from when I received them. Clearly I got an older batch and that may explain the lack of flavor, especially if they weren't stored properly. Pretty disappointing, as I was looking forward to the PG Tips flavor I know and love.2Meh!Having long heard about PG Tips and fading out that Amazon was selling it in loose form, I ordered my first package. British Mail took a while to deliver it, but it did come in excellent shape. The liquor has a beautiful red color, but the taste is nothing to write home about. The tannic content is high enough to pucker your mouth, though. The best selling brand of tea in England disappointed me, but, if a Brit wanted to experience a fine hamburger, MacDonald s may not be the first place to go.3A great cuppa! This is the tea that my British grandmother used. We drank many a cup of this brew while visiting her in Leicester, England. Has a great flavor but, for me, it s the nostalgia that makes it special!5Nice flavor, I recommend but YMMV since taste is a matter of personal preference. This is tea number 4 of 4 I recently purchased. The 3 others were tea bags. Two were Irish breakfast and I do not prefer the kind of squarish tea pouch without the string. The teas were not my "cup of tea" (pun intended). The third one was Taylor of Harrogate and was a bit better but still not that good and I mentioned that I should probably try their "Gold" version. This one however was the winner hands down, thus I gave it 4 stars. Why not 5? Because it is really a fine powder and I prefer bigger leaves.Maybe it comes that way because of the fact that they use only the top 2 leaves as they describe on the package.I will wait a while to try some other teas because right now I have purchased 4 different boxes, another Irish breakfast tea box that I got a few days ago plus another 4 one pounder boxes of loose leaf tea that I got from the local market. So I'm set for now and will try others in the future.4Wonderful tea--loose no longer available at NYC strores.I'm a big enough fan of this tea to make multi-pack orders and wait a couple of months for it to get here.An English friend tells me this is one of the most common brands of tea in the UK. This is straightforward black tea -- strong, with deep, clean flavor. Goes well with milk. Bracing and satisfying. At least a couple of friends I know have started ordering this after having tea at my house.PG tips has been easily available around Manhattan for the past few years, but for some reason sale of the loose tea stopped a couple of years ago, and it's only available in bags. The tea bags are good, but my own preference is for loose, so I'm delighted to be able to order it here.5Always the bestThis tea is always the best flavor - can hardly tolerate any other black tea after a friend introduced me to PG Tips! Service from this seller was very fast and my tea arrived before I expected it to :)5PG tips, an absolute MUST have!I absolutely love PG Tips! OF the many black teas I've tried, this is my favorite. This shipment did not disappoint. I was very fortunate too since I was about to run out of my current stock and while I had other tea to hold me over till this shipment arrived, I was extremely pleased to have it arrive 2-3 weeks early! This tea is not bitter as some other teas are and since it is made from the "tips" (top 2 leaves and the end bud of the stem), you get the smoothest flavor with boldness. I have tried the PG Tips Pyramid bags and found them to be not at all the same as the loose leaf probably because the grind is finer than the loose leaf version. Twinings does the same for a more brisk flavor with its bagged version vs its loose leaf.I've tried Golden Moon EBT, but it was not flavorful enough and a bit harsh. Of course, it is a broad leaf tea. I've tried Typhoo now and then and that is good for a divergence. It has similar texture as a tea to PG Tips.5Tasty, but took 49 days to arriveThis is the best English Breakfast tea I've ever had. The price was fantastic (less than eight bucks per box). I ordered two boxes of PG Tips loose-leaf tea, and they arrived slightly crumpled/dented but still sealed, so no problems. The only downside was that my order took 49 days to arrive, a full three weeks after Amazon's expected arrival window had ended. Additionally, the seller, Tora Foods, didn't respond to either of my polite emails asking for an update. The "leaves" themselves look like tiny pellets rather than whole dry leaves. This translates to a much shorter steep time, only 30-45 seconds, to prevent a bitter flavor.Anyway, just know what you're in for:1) Best tea ever, no contest2) Fabulous price3) Takes almost two months to arrive4) Seller doesn't respond to questionsIf you're good with that, go ahead and order it, because it's the best.5
