Loved them and then . . .I loved these bars! They were high in protein, low in sugar, no milk products - everything I wanted. Have eaten these for the last year. Then the last shipment of two boxes were awful. They seemed old as the wrapper stuck to them as had not happened before and they had a funny chemical taste to them. So disappointed :( I am now shopping for another brand. 2New formula is not as goodI just checked my order history on Amazon and Vitacost and have ordered these bars 25 times since first discovering them back in June 2015. I have a dairy allergy and am also sensitive to gluten so these bars have been a lifesaver and I eat several each week. I have a subscribe and save subscription for them to be sure I never run out. I started with the blueberry cobbler bars and switched to the raspberry truffle pretty along the way because I like the flavor better and the bits of chocolate add a nice texture. When I saw that the bars were being reformulated I was a bit upset because the calories were going up by 50/bar but still decided to give them a try. I ordered the sampler pack directly from No Cow to try all of the flavors. I've only tried the new raspberry truffle flavor so far since that's the one I eat on a regular basis and can provide a comparison of old vs. new. I agree with the other reviewers that the new formulation isn't as good. The raspberry taste is more mild and the texture has also changed though I'm not sure I'd say it's super chalky as described by others. It's just a different, more dry texture than before. I'm not thrilled with the new formula and will not be buying these bars as much in the future. Part of the appeal before was a great taste with high protein for only 160 calories. If I'm going to start having 210 calorie bars then I'll start to shop around again to see other vegan bar options. 3Flavor changed - these taste articifialNo Cow are my only Protein bars and i had not ordered this flavor in a while. Quite disappointed - the raspberry tastes super-strong and highly artificial. I have always been fin with the subtle flavor of these bars. I dont need a candy-bar flavor - i prefer something simple so I dont have cravings for ore after i finish one. But this one is not goo anymore. and i really used to like it. 2Good but inconsistentOverall, I like these bars for on-the-go & I do re-order them. It's nearly impossible to find a decent low sugar, naturally sweetened, high fiber, vegan protein bar & this brand is all these things. I'd give it more stars except, as a number of other reviewers have stated, there's something going on with D's taste/flavor quality control. I purchased some peanut butter ones that truly tasted like they were about 5 years out of date. I have a high tolerance for "health food taste", but these were disgusting & truly inedible with such an odd, chemical-like aftertaste. Thing is, I've had good peanut butter ones from D's before & the inconsistency is what bugs me the most. So, I've stopped ordering the PB & every time I order my other favorite flavors (raspberry truffle & blueberry) I cross my fingers they won't have the same problem. These bars are way too pricy to be throwing away! I hope the folks at D's Naturals read these reviews & address their quality control issue because they do, IMHO, have a worthwhile product in these bars. EDITED JUNE 1, 2017 TO ADD: I recently ordered one box each of the Lemon Meringue, Raspberry Truffle and Blueberry Cobbler. The first two are very good/as expected, the last (blueberry) is DISGUSTING with the same chemical/very old taste that is hard to describe. I've had blueberry numerous times in the past and the never tasted like this. So, so disappointed! 3Dry, chalky and tasteless. Made me feel bad.When I ordered a sample pac of the no cow bars a month ago the raspberry truffle was my favorite. So I ordered a box. BIG mistake. They arrived barely a month from their best by date. They were chalky and tasteless. And hard as rocks. They also made me feel sick. I am returning these And NEVER buying them again. 1Awful...I have pretty diverse taste buds. I eat tons of vegetables and have eaten a plant based, whole foods diet for over 10 years. These are by far one of the nastiest things I've EVER tried. I bought the Raspberry Truffle kind. It tasted like I was eating chalk. It did NOT have a truffle taste at all and I even spit it out it was so bad. Never again!! No way! 1Old version, not the newer one in the photo.The photo of the product is the new label, but I received the old version. The product has changed from when these were made. It looks, feels, and tastes different from the newer ones- which is what I was expecting. This one is alright, but I m disappointed as this is not what I was expecting to get. 2New and Un-ImprovedI was the BIGGEST fan of No Cow, singing their praises to anyone who would listen- And many people who wouldn't. It didn't matter because I loved these bars with a fiery passion . Plowing through two boxes per month at least, these things were my life blood, the foundation of my personal food pyramid. Raspberry Truffle was my absolute favorite, but I adored the Mint Chocolate as well, followed closely by the Blueberry Cobbler and Peanut Butter Chip. It was a beautiful love story.And then... My soul mate morphed from Dr. Jekyll into Mr Hyde. I'm confounded by the switch to a new formula and mourn the loss of what was once a perfect balance of flavor and nutrition. This current formulation is a sad shadow of its former self. The texture is like chewing on foam latex, and the flavor isn't much better.I'm still crushed by this switch and wish No Cow would reconsider... I've tried lemon meringue, dark chocolate raspberry, raspberry truffle, peanut butter chocolate chip cookie, and blueberry. I liked all of them. If you want a protein bar low in carbs, has lots of fiber, and you're vegan (or if you're just dairy-free), this is a great option! The price on here is cheaper than Vitamin Shoppe. :) 5
