Customer Reviews

Love the pad, but too overpriced for what it is.I like the thickness of these. Also, the material is super soft and comfortable against the skin. I love that the thickness of the pad can be increased/decreased by adding/subtracting liners. I was a bit disappointed to discover that after only a few washings (in spite of using a laundry bag to protect the product) some of the pads were already showing wear. One actually developed huge holes in the holder after only the 4th or 5th washing. I can only conclude that these are a handwash only item. Also, the price is hugely inflated for what the product is. I actually had my mother in law design her own homemade pad and for the cost of fabric scraps that we already had on hand anyways, she was able to devise an equally, if not more effective pad. If these ones fall apart, at least it's not such a huge hit to the pocketbook! 4Great products. This was my second purchase of these cotton pads. They are a bit expensive but having more than a single set of three on-hand is more convenient and at times, potentially necessary. I liked the first batch I bought better than this set. The first batch was a darker printed flannel color. When you're only used to the glaring white of disposable "mesh-weave fabrics" (paper) it can be a bit off-putting at first, or at least it was for me. But, I found this an ideal situation when it came to concerns over potential laundering stains. This second batch of three, is made of a sort of neon green print, and not nearly as practical for the use. I will say that I have still had no issues yet of staining.Another thing I do not like as well on this batch are the snaps which seem almost industrial-strong. It may be a bit much for the thin flannel fabric. It feels like care should be taken not to tear the fabric when unsnapping them. My suspicion is that this will be an issue over time, but I have no proof of that yet. (Did I mention the price of these?? Yes, care WILL be taken.)Just an FYI for anyone interested. I've found that after they have been cleaned thoroughly, I put these in the washer with the regular laundry. The first couple of times I then tossed them in the dryer with the clothes but had to iron them before use because they shriveled into something akin to abstract art pieces. I discovered a secret. Just lay them out smooth and flat on top of the washer or dryer. Within a few hours they will be dry enough to put away and will be as well-shaped as if they had been ironed. 4A Whisper to My PantiesI'm a 28 year old woman, no kids, who suffers from Ovarian Cysts which cause heavy cramping and flow during my cycle. I'm allergic to the pill and inserted metals-which means I can't regulate my ovulation so my cysts remain. I am also allergic to latex, which I suspect is being used in more feminine products/packaging and some scents/dyes.As a result I started looking in to a back up to the Moon Cup (also excellent) for days when my period is severe and I need a break from the Moon Cup.I checked out several different cloth pads and decided on Glad Rags, as I love the Moon Cup too.Love them! I soak them in distilled white vinegar prior to washing and then I hang them to dry. Although they're not 100% perfect when cleaned, as mine have white design, they are easy to care for and I've been recommending them to my friends. And added bonus is that I don't have my pad sticking to me and it's comfortable even working up a sweat in the factory. 5Super comfortableI started using glad rags about 2 years and will never go back to any other product. I didn't realize how irritating plastic pads were. These pads are soft and comfortable against the skin. At night and during heavy days I use the night pads, then the day pads and liners. I have little washable pad bags when I need to change a pad. Just put used pad inside, bring home, and throw in wash. To wash, I throw all used pads in on a hot, heavy cycle with oxiclean and our regular laundry soap. 5DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!!!!!!!!So far, so good! I started using gladrags around two years ago when I started to become sensitive to disposable pads. At first I thought it was pretty gross, but I decided to give it a try to be more environmentally friendly and save money. Boy was that the best decision I made. I initially bought a pack of 3 day pads and up until this day they are in great condition! There will be some staining, but I usually hand wash them with cold water and then throw them in the washer. That usually does the trick. The 3 day pads are not nearly enough for my 6 day cycle so I decided to buy another pack to avoid buying disposable pads the last couple of days of my cycle. The new day pads are a bit longer, which I'm loving! And the pink with white polka dots design is super cute! I love love love this product and definitely recommend it to all women. The best part of all is that you don't get nasty rashes or irritation because the cotton is super soft. 5Fantastic and worth the price!I bought these pads to be used as a back-up method method for my Diva Cup, which after a couple of months I still don't trust completely. While the idea of getting rid of unneeded chemicals and helping the earth out is very tempting, I'm not about to spend my entire day worrying. Was that a leak? What was that? I just went to the bathroom ten minutes ago; will people notice if I go again? Oh, no, what was THAT?Enter Gladrags. (Bonus points if you spot the Harry Potter connection, intentional or not!) These were fantastic, and helped the Diva Cup and I to get along famously. Mine were patterned; a blue and brown semi-floral print. Not my first choice, but better than boring plain white, and definitely better at hiding any stains. They washed well, and a little Shout for the occasional stain made everything come out of the wash looking brand new. They were very comfortable; if you are using these as your only option, you can add extra inserts to make it extra-thick (more on this later) but you are just adding more layers of soft cotton. As far as price, the initial price of $21 for 3 pads is a bit of sticker shock, but it's also misleading. What you get in your box is three pads with wings, that snap together to hold things in place. Each pad comes with three inserts; you can used the pad on it's own as a panty liner, or add in as many inserts as you need to make it extra-absorbent. So, for the price, you are getting 12 individual pieces, which you can mix and match to make three super-thick pads, or twelve panty liners (since you could easily use the inserts on their own). So for that reason, along with everything else, I think the price is well justified. The only negative things I have to say are that I wasn't wild over my print, and the pads did tend to move around a bit. I only ever used one insert, so using more could fix that. And it never created any 'problems' for me, besides being a little uncomfortable, so I don't feel that it deserves to take a star off from the product. In the end, if you are trying to avoid chemicals, have sensitive skin that makes using normal products uncomfortable to use, or are dealing with an untrustworthy Diva Cup, I highly recommend these! 5Lunapads is betterI bought a sample lunapad before, and I wanted more, but I wanted a lower price. You get what you pay for with these. They function well if you're not picky, but there are a couple things that make it boring and only adequate for me.My box came with three in burgundy. I would have liked to actually have color options.Inside each pad, there are two liners inside that can be removed. However, they're not sealed in any way so they'll automatically come out in the laundry and have to be reinserted, which is an extra step for me that I'd rather not do. When wearing it, it stays together of course without a problem. However, because of the layering, there is some bulk to it. It won't show through your clothes unless you're wearing skin tight leggings, however, you'll feel it as you walk around. It's not uncomfortable, but I know some people don't like pads because it feels a bit like diapers. It won't make you feel like you're wearing diapers, it will feel like you're wearing pads, and some might want something slimmer as if you're not wearing any.So lunapads are better because everything's sewn together, the designs are adorable, and they're slimmer. But more expensive. 3much better than disposables. i'm converted.i haven't tried other brands, but i have used these for over 5 years. they have held up just fine. i will NEVER go back to disposables! yes, the concept seems a little gross and foreign, but, i mean, women become mothers and mother = diaper changes, so really, it's not that bad when you think about it. besides disposables tend to....reek. cloth pads do not have that awful stench to them. also, they don't chafe like all that awful plastic does with disposables. these are MUCH softer, especially after a few washings. i'm sensitive down there, so i like that i can wash these in a gentle detergent which has been much better than all that 'scented' chemical stuff. i haven't had any stain or leak issues. i like these for heavy days because i have a terrible problem where i bleed through just about any tampon, and it's led to some VERY embarrassing moments. 2 3 packs of these gets me through a cycle just fine.to clean them, i soak them in a bucket of hot water with some squirts of a mix of hydrogen peroxide and dish soap. oxyclean powder is more pricey, but will work too. then i rinse and wash them in the machine. you can get away with handwashing them too after a soak.really, the gross factor is not that bad, just stop listening to what the media is telling you. 5Cute and ComfyI'm loving my new cotton pads. I wanted to get something to catch any leaks while I was adjusting to my new moon cup. The pads are soft and comfy and mine have a very cute city pattern on them.Pros: They are super absorbent, I have not had them leak through, or ever come close.Easy to clean. They have a removable cover and an absorbent inner core. I never soak through the cover, so I wash that in the sink at night and rotate through the three covers during my cycle.Cons:They are pretty big. More coverage, but they can be seen through yoga pants. They don't feel very breathable. Some times I feel a little stifled by them. They can be washed and dried in a standard machine. However, if dried in a tumble dryer they kinda get dried wonky and raisin-like. Make sure to air dry them flat. 5Soft, pretty, just magnificent.First, let me say I was skeptical about cloth pads. I've never really been one to use pads, even when I used disposables. However, to keep my consumption down and to lessen my climate footprint, I decided to purchase these and give it a go. For the price, it's about the same as buying disposable supplies for 2 periods anyway. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THESE. I will never go back. The pads are very soft, very absorbent, and though you definitely know you're wearing them (like any other pad) they are much more comfortable (and NOT AS NOISY!) as a disposable. I'm currently in the process of converting all my friends to use these. I heard about GladRags on a podcast and bought them on a whim. Now I need more! 5
