Nice Organization - Compartments are Difficult to OpenThe overall design is quiet good. Each compartment is big enough for most large pills, for example we put a calcium pill (which is a fairly good sized pill), a large prescription capsule, two small (baby aspirin sized) pills, and it's maybe half full. There are separate compartments for four doses per day, Morning, Lunch, Evening., and Night. This pretty much ended separate pill boxes my dad had, a Sunday - Saturday type box for the morning, another for the evening, and another misc. Is it the white one that has the morning pills? Or is it the Blue one? Red one? Red was the morning pills last week, this week it's the evening pills? It was just confusing. This way, they are all in one spot. The only reason I knocked of two stars: the compartments although seem to be of very good quality, are crisp, and tight... too tight to open. Some of them 'I' have a hard time opening. I'm sure they will loosen up as time goes on, but I couldn't leave them with him (my elderly father) to deal with alone.. he probably couldn't open them. I open them all in the morning and set the tray spot as shown in the picture, and he's good for the rest of the day. Open and close them 50 - 100 times they may loosen up, but there are 4 each day times 31 days is 124 compartments, wanna do that 100 times? There is only a few things I'm willing to do 12,400 times, opening pill boxes is not one of them.It is nice that I can check at a glance and see what he's taken, what doses he may have missed without going through multiple individual pill boxes he had before. It's far more organized than before. If the compartments were easier to open, it would have easily have earned '5' stars. 3THE BEST SAFEST WAY TO KEEP YOUR PILLS and NOT GET LOST on what day it isThis is a great pill box! It's strong and when you sort your daily medicine in each of the four boxes per day closed , IT STAYS CLOSED!! A WONDERFUL EXAMPLE OF STURDY AND SAFE. I highly recommend getting a safe though, you can never be too safe about your medicine. No matr where u live there is always going to be an opportunity for someone to come into your home, just had to put this here . Anyway this really works great! I've had this same one last me four hard years! So when mine wore out , I had to find it again. The clock DOES NOT COME WITH, so don't get confused about what this comes with like I did lol. Your daily meds will be safely placed in each box , then when you're done with that day turn the box upside down so the red number is up that way no matter how forgetful you may be, you will know that red is gone and green is good. If you take more than a couple of pills daily, this is perfect, it is a little big but that is what really makes this great! A definite Recommend product for you or a loved one or friend if they take pills daily, that gets very confusing, for me anyway so I make sure as son as I get my pills I fill my box up and then take the day before out before I go to sleep that night , then I put the box in my safe. Everyone who takes pills needs a safe these days, this would require a bit larger safe than most pill boxes so please remember that but it's well worth knowing when u will be out of your meds each month by the red side of each daily box being put back in holder and into safe. 5 stars all day. 5Great idea, but plastic doors break too easily. Would not buy again. The concept of this is great and it can be very useful. However, I set it up for my Dad and within a month, several of the lids have already broken off. The containers themselves need to be sturdier and up to being opened many times before they fail or break. I am going to look into ordering replacements, but will also, unfortunately, be looking for an alternative if I will have to keep ordering replacements after just a month of use. Update: when I contacted the company, the response was to give me a detailed explanation on how to open the doors. I replied that when you have an elderly patient with reduced mobility in their hands, easy opening was a must - plus sturdier materials. I would be willing to pay more for a sturdier build. You also cannot purchase replacements with no numbers on them, so you will constantly be ordering replacements if this continues. I wouldn't mind so much if I could order several of the containers and write my own numbers on them. Needs to be updated with better material, but a good idea. I purchased a 7 day dispenser here on Amazon that has held up well after several weeks of use - AND our home health nurse actually prefers a 7 day dispenser in case medications are changed by the doctor - she said it was much easier to change a few days of medications rather than 30 days. Plus, the cost of the 7 day dispenser was much, much less (I bought 3 extra as backups that I have not needed yet, and 4 of the 7 day were either the same price or cheaper than this 31 day dispenser. 1Not senior friendly....Item was purchased for my 90 year old mother-in-law, but there is no way she can manage removing the daily cylinders or opening the individual compartments. The cylinders are too close together and hard to grip; the compartment latches are so tight, I struggled getting them opened. Not a senior friendly product. Great concept but poor execution. Tried to return it two days after delivery, never used, and am told no refunds through Amazon. Waiting for them to reply to my email request for a refund. 1Straightforward, works Very well if the person isn t too far along with some type of memory disorderI tried everything to help my dad remember his pills. Eventually we ended up putting him in assisted living just so that they could give him his medication on time. He has some form of dementia, relatively severe, but has not been diagnosed With exactitude, as apparently often times there is no way to truly identify the exact problem. Anyway, this is the only pill system that worked at all for him . And for me. I can sort all his pills for the entire month. It makes it quite easy to keep track of things. I had spent a few hundred dollars on other products, some of them mechanical and automated, that he just could not understand. I finally settled on this, thinking this is not gonna work. It s ugly it s childish looking, he s going to hate it. But it actually worked the best of everything I tried. (I also have the clock that goes with this). I ordered two so that I could keep one at home with me and Fill it , then exchange it with his caretakers at the beginning of the month. 5Solver a huge problemMy Mom is getting on in years, and with all the pills she has to take, it was getting too confusing for her. Now, all she has to is open the compartment and take her meds. Her struggle is over, and I have peace of mind knowing that she's taking the right pills at the right time, every day. Only down side is it takes a while to load this up every month, but the more you do it, you'll find shortcuts to do it faster and just as accurately. I do agree with some of the other reviewers that the compartments are quite tight and might be hard to open for some elderly people. Until the manufacturer heeds these comments and comes out with a new version that overcomes this issue, just do what my Mom does: buy a had grip, and while watching TV, do a bunch of reps/sets every day. It works! 5Great for organizing, compartments hard to open especially for seniorsI felt I had to deduct one star because the compartments can be difficult to open. Difficult for me, and nearly impossible for my 90 year old mother who I purchased it for. I doubt this is the manufacturer's "fault" and it's simply because it is new, and that over time they may loosen a bit, but since you only open each compartment once a month it could take a while. I just want other potential buyers to be aware especially since odds are good you're looking to purchase for an older person. That said, it can't be beat when it comes to organization. My mother is still able to live on her own in her condo but was mixing up her pills. I set this up for her and on days I'm not there I am sure to call at appropriate times and instruct her on which box to pull out and which compartment to take. She is in early stages of dementia so learning a new system is a bit beyond her but with reminders and instruction she is doing well with it, and in the even she does miss pills I'll be able to tell.A tip: It's easier for my mother to place the empty pill compartments in a nearby basket rather than turn them over to the red side and place them back in the holder. That way there is no chance of confusing empty pill boxes with unused ones.I'm actually considering one of these for myself to keep up with vitamin supplements.I think the companion clock would work great for some but I opted not to get it because I didn't think it was large enough for my mother to be able to see, and even thought she wears hearing aids she still can't hear the phone or doorbell unless she's near it. I also worried that she wouldn't understand what to do with it when it went off since it's something else new to learn, plus I'm acting as the alarm, lol. I did purchase one of the many large digital plug in clocks with day, date, and time for her and placed it near the pill system to help reinforce what day of the month we're on; before that she was trying to rely on a paper wall calendar and if she forgot to mark the day off she was behind. To summarize, if you're looking for this for a senior it has the potential to be a lifesaver (literally). Just be aware that it might be a bit tough opening the compartments early on. 4This is the most useful pill organizer ever! This is one of the best pill containers I've purchased. I take a large number of supplements for my thyroid and it's always a struggle finding something that fits them all and that I can do in batches so I don't have to fiddle with bottles every day.The month at a time does take a bit to fill all at once, but then you're done for the month. I like the red and green indicators as well, it reminds me that I need to take something before bed. Depending on how many pills you have, you need to be careful of how you put them into the compartment as they will get full fast with larger ones. The daily holders are small enough to fit in just about anything I'm carrying, too, so they travel well. I've never had an issue with them popping open in about two months of use. 5Great Product. Mediocre Fit and Finish. The simplicity of this product is excellent. I purchased it for an elderly neighbor who struggles with their weekly pillbox agenda and they love it.Unfortunately, it only deserves 3 stars. Inconvenient nuances and cheap build keep this item from being as perfect as it is simple. Some of the pill boxes will chafe against the sides of the cubicles, causing them to not seat properly at the bottom. As a result, this product does not appear as tidy as it does in the picture. Some pill boxes will sit slightly higher than others or appear slightly slanted (or both). This makes it look sloppy and cheap like something from the dollar store.I went so far as to remove two stars rather than just one because I would not expect an item at this price point to exhibit such an issue. At about $35-40 (depending on where you buy it), I didn't expect a "You get what you pay for" scenario. I would easily dismiss the fit and finish issue if it were under $20, which is exactly what it feels like.Secondly, the pods are hard to open. I usually roll my eyes when people complain about such nuances, but seriously...this is far, far more difficult to open than your average pillbox. My elderly neighbor cannot open them on her own. If you have long fingernails, count on losing one.Kind of odd that this is a problem considering this is a product built for accessibility.Overall, the concept is there and those with methodical patience should do just fine with filling and seating the pill boxes, as well as waiting for the pods to break in with subsequent cycles of opening and closing. 3TOTALLY DISAPPOINTEDVery disappointed. I ordered this item to help me to organize my meds and to eliminate so many pill bottles. The item was used. The label was pealing, it was dirty it had meds in it. 1
