I am always looking for ways to stay in better shape, both my body and skinOver many years, and certainly as I have gotten older, I am always looking for ways to stay in better shape, both my body and skin. I began taking Omega 3 or Krill Oil for years. As soon as it came out that it was good for your body, reducing inflammation, helpful with brain function, lowers your risk of chronic diseases, arthritis cancer and reduces risk of heart disease. Who wouldn't take it, right? Recently I heard that Omega 7 is good for your body, too. It specifically is good for heart and arteries. There is also word that it supports metabolic function and aiding in weight lodd and stabilization. As soon as someone says anything to me about weight loss, I'm in! I have not found a great deal of difference yet. please check back in a month or so for an update! If you found this helpful, please click yes! Thank you! 5Seems to be helping my weight loss planI used this product for about 8 weeks and saw a steady weight loss of 1 pound a week without changing my diet or exercise routine. I usually go mainstream medicine first, and then when things don't work for me, I try supplements or other non-mainstream products. Due to a metabolic disorder, I lose weight very slowly, so I was happy with my 1 pound a week weight loss. Then I ran out of the product, and forgot to reorder. After a few weeks of no weight loss, I remembered that I was out of the Provinal, and re-ordered it, and the slow weight loss returned. Could be coincidence, could be the placebo effect, but I was encouraged enough to order a six month supply. This is not a magic bullet, as I do watch my diet and exercise as well, so I don't recommend ordering this and expecting to lose weight without a healthy eating regime. But, if you are on a plateau, or despite healthy calorie restrictions you are not losing weight, you might want to give this a try. BTW, I eat mostly low glycemic vegetables, some fish and occasional eggs, daily blueberries, limited nuts (my caloric downfall) and avocados (ditto) and lentils and tofu. I also restrict my eating to an 8 hour window.Scientific studies on the efficacy of provinal are limited, but you might be interested in doing a search and reading up what's out there. 5product does what it saysproduct has been exceptional in appetite suppressant and weight loss. 5Poor packagingAll the gel caps were stuck together in one giant glob! Hard to get out of the bottle. Several gel caps popped trying to break them apart. Just a mess!!! 1Three StarsI have been taking this supplement for over a month. I have not noticed any added benefits. 3Helped Reduced Pain in my Lumbar SpineI've been taking this for a little over a month at the time of this review. As usual, Life Extension offers a good product. I believe this supplement was helping me with improved mobility and reduction of pain in my lower back. However, when I started taking Rose Hips powder (Rosa Canina) at the same time, I really started noticing a significant reduction in pain and inflammation. I have some inflammation and arthritis happening in my lumbar spine that is affecting the sciatic nerve, so I've really been researching and trying different supplements. Life Extension is a bit on the pricey side, and I will be looking for a comparable quality product that may be a bit less expensive, as I wish to continue talking this. I would recommend to anyone that is suffering from inflammation-type pain in joints and soft tissues. 5Very good productI used the supplement before and cannot complain. I am very pleased. 5Five StarsGives me the energy I need to get through the day. I will buy this over and over again 5WARNING: Provinal "clinically proven" to cause "gastrointestinal distress and 1 developed a headache during the study period."Label errors. There is no detectable palmitoleic acid (cis-9-Hexadecenoic acid). Product contains fatty acid ethyl esters that have been shown to damage the pancreas and other vital organs.Purified does not mean pure. Therefore, 0 % pure of palmitoleic acid. I have copies of the certificate of analysis of Provinal from the South Korean manufacturer that says palmitoleic acid ethyl ester which is not palmitoleic acid. That means you are paying for the ester and not the acid. Therefore, you were short changed. Somehow the so called "experts" in the GRASN and NDI don't realize that the ester does not equal the mass of the acid.ester + water (hydrolysis) = alcohol + acid The reaction is catalyzed by the bio-catalyst enzyme Carboxylesterase which is well known for esters of fatty acids. Lifeextension should have filed a new dietary ingredient (NDI) notification to the FDA 75 days before marketing this product. Tersus (maker of Provinal) filed the NDI-819 for Provinal (new dietary ingredient) on January 13, 2014 and before that a generally recognized as safe (GRAS) notification (GRASN-494) for the same ingredient on December 16, 2013. The FDA responded to the GRASN with the statement: "Based on the information provided by Tersus Pharmaceuticals, as well as other information available to FDA, the agency has no questions at this time regarding Tersus Pharmaceuticals' conclusion that FAEE is GRAS under the intended conditions of use. The agency has not, however, made its own determination regarding the GRAS status of the subject use of FAEE." The FDA responded to the NDI on May 1, 2014 with the following: "For example, you did not provide information that palmitoleic acid ethyl ester completely dissociates prior to absorption in the gastrointestinal tract. Without such information, it is unclear how your history of use information establishes the basis of safety of your ingredient under the proposed conditions of use. In addition, FDA was unable to establish the safety of the new dietary ingredient, "Provinal ", based on the referenced toxicology studies provided in your notification. For example, the test articles used in the toxicological studies were not equivalent to "Provinal ". In addition, the subchronic toxicology study is inadequate to address the safety of your ingredient under the proposed conditions of use.For the reasons discussed above, the information in your submission does not provide an adequate basis to conclude that the dietary supplement containing "Provinal ", when used under the conditions recommended or suggested in the labeling of your product, will reasonably be expected to be safe. Therefore, your product may be adulterated under 21 U.S.C. 342(f)(1)(B) as a dietary supplement that contains a new dietary ingredient for whichthere is inadequate information to provide reasonable assurance that such ingredient does not present a significant or unreasonable risk of illness or injury. Introduction of such a product into interstate commerce is prohibited under 21 U.S.C. 331 (a) and (v)."There is a lack of history of use of Provinal since it was patented (US 8,703,818 B2) April 22, 2014. If there was a history of use, then the patent should be voided. Therefore, not recommended based on the above. Also, in both the NDI and GRASN it was stated: "Toxicological studies on Provinal, the finished product, have not been conducted, and toxicological studies on pure palmitoleic acid were not found in the public domain. The absence of such studies is most likely due to the fact that this fatty acid, as well as the other fatty acids that constitute Provinal, are considered edible and have an extensive history of consumption in foods."If there was no toxicology studies, how in the world was this given to patients for a clinical trial way down in Puerto Rico. No wonder some patients got sick. Therefore, why would anyone want to take a dietary supplement that contains an ingredient for which their is no toxicology studies. However, the scientific peer reviewed literature is full of articles addressing the cytotoxicity of palmitoleic acid ethyl ester and fatty acid ethyl esters (FAEE). All these references were missed in the GRASN as well as the chemical structure in the NDI and GRASN are wrong.See the publication that is cited for Provinal: Journal of Clinical Lipidology (2014) 8, 612 617, "Two to 3 participants in the intervention group developed gastrointestinal distress and 1 developed a headache during the study period. There were no reported side effects or adverse effects in the control group." This was a clinical trial that took place in the beautiful city of Ponce, PR. "Participants received a $25 stipend fortravel during their participation in the study." So, do your due diligence. Why pay for a product that may damage your pancreas and other vital organs. Safer choices include macadamia nut oil or Sea buckthorn oil that contain more esterified palmitoleic acid in natural triglyceride form rather than a synthetic compound. Notice the labels says 210 mg palmitoleic acid but the liquid weighs 0.43204 g (432.04 mg) (my lot C1702122 Exp 09/2019. Then you have to ask what is the other 432.04 -210 mg = 222.04 mg of impurities composed of?Because this is blend, all the ingredients (impurities) in the blend must be listed per 21 CFR 101.3 6(b)(3). Are there any carcinogenic compounds such as methyl and ethyl carbamates that could result during the synthesis. See Figure 2 Page 12 of the GRASN that shows the use of urea either with methanol and ethanol. The chemical reaction between these chemicals is well known in the literature to produce alkyl carbamates that are on California's proposition 65. See attached figure. LifeExtension should tell us how much if any and what analytical method was used to verify that Provinal does not contain these carcinogens. The CGMP requires in 21 CFR 111 require testing for these contaminants.I'm surprised to see Life Extension selling this product considering the reputation of the company. However, I noticed that Life Extension got a FDA warning letter 17-07 on February 1, 2017. The ethyl esters of fatty acids has a restriction and they can only be used to dehydrate grapes. See 21 CFR 172.225 Methyl and ethyl esters of fatty acids produced from edible fats and oils. "The additive is used or intended for use at the level not to exceed 3 percent by weight in an aqueous emulsion in dehydrating grapes to produce raisins, whereby the residue of the additive on the raisins does not exceed 200 parts per million." 1Really works for weight loss!Love the quality of Life Extension brand at a great price! Using the Omega 7 has truly accelerated my weight loss and my skin looks younger too! I stopped using it for awhile when I ran out and my weight loss came to a halt! Now I use it daily!! 5
