Very effective at diminishing neck pain!I live in a remote area and making two trips to my physical therapist a week was expensive in time, gas and money. I talked to my PT and told him I was thinking about buying my own traction device so I could have my therapy at home. I researched my options and purchased this device. It's well made and easy to use. I took it in to my next PT visit to ask him to recommend pressure settings, make sure the neck opening was correctly fit to me and to get his opinion. He took one look at the device and then asked, "Where did you get this?" I told him I'd purchased it on Amazon after researching other devices and he grinned and said, "Wait just a minute", went over to a cabinet and pulled out the Neck Traction device they used. They were very similar in both design and quality. However, after adjusting my device and recommending pressure settings he told me he liked the device I'd purchased better than the Traction Device they used there at the PT Center! If you have neck problems, this is a wonderful device! 5This traction unit works and it's pretty simple to get hooked up intoThis traction unit works and it's pretty simple to get hooked up into. The seal on the pump started leaking about 2 weeks after I got it. I had to rig the seal with plastic to keep the pressure inside, which makes it very difficult to let air out, as I have to unscrew the pump part to let air out. It is a hassle. 2Worth every penny!Purchased this one as it was almost identical to the one my PT had, just a different name (I think one company bought the other out). Life saver. I have degenerative disk disease which has now reached my neck. When my neck slips, it gets sprained because the bones of my vertebrae lock in the wrong position as they are too close together now. When I have an episode, I just use two times a day and everything loosens up and releases. I spent 3 months in PT last time. Thanks to their training and this machine, I was able to heal my own neck in two days the last time it slipped. Worth every penny. 5DPT EndorsedI am a DPT. After neck pain and radiation numbness that started a while back,I had a similar traction device loaned to me, Constant neck pain and inability to turn my head to the left and tingling in my left arm. I had an MRI completed 2 years ago with diagnosis of a C6-7 Disc lateral posterior Disc Herniation. When I had the loaned traction unit, the pain and numbness subsided. This spring I found myself jumping with my 4 y/o on a trampoline. Word to the wise: don't do it with a herniated disc. Needless to say the last 2 months have been excruating and my beloved traction device was now back with its rightful owner. Instead of spending a thousand dollars for the same hook and sinker diagnosis I decided to buy one for myself. I received it yesterday...set it up...used what I know to be the correct traction weight...laid there for 15 minutes...and woke up this morning without neck pain for the first time in 8 weeks. So pleasantly surprised by this item and would absolutely recommend it. 5It is easy and simple to use and he uses it without ...Bought this for my father who has compressed discs in his neck and was experiencing lots of pain and left hand shaking. The pain is much less and he alters the use of the machine based upon his pain level. When his pain increases, he uses the machine daily, but lessens its use if his pain is low or nonexistent. The hand shaking is still there but less. Aside from actually helping to reduce the pain, it allows him to have some control over his pain by increasing or decreasing the machine use. It is easy and simple to use and he uses it without additional help. The stretching won't fix the neck issue but helps to control the amount of pain he has to deal with. My father is very difficult to please but he is content using this machine. That's a good reason to highly recommend this product. 5Sturdily built device brings noticable reliefMy doctor had suggested a less expensive option for cervical traction but, after reading several reviews of all the different products, I decided to purchase the Comfortract. I was initially surprised by the size of the appliance and its weight, but quickly realized that it was large and heavy because it was well-built. Due to vacation, I've only been using it for about a week, but I can already report a decrease in the number of episodes of numbness from my pinched nerve, as well as their severity. I find lying on the floor in the appliance quite comfortable and I can do it while I watch TV (with my glasses scootched down my nose for proper focus). I don't know about other people, but the most effective treatments for me are the ones I actually do, so I'm hopeful that I will continue to be diligent about my nightly sessions and continue to see improvement. I try to do it just before going to bed so that the stretching is not immediately undone by gravity. This seems to help the effects last longer. 5but I feel like I have to in this caseThis thing changed my life, in about a week! I usually don't write reviews, but I feel like I have to in this case. I have a C5-C6 disc bulge with bilateral stenosis . I have lived with chronic neck pain for 5 years and I'm only 37! I went to tons of doctors and neurosurgeons. I've had 3 spinal epidural steroid injections. I was about to have spinal surgery fusion . I got a call that my insurance rejected to pay for it , since I didn't try physical therapy first and they said "not enough nerve damage yet". Well I was furious and cried a lot. I was so sick in pain. I am a single mom of 2 and my one done has Autism and is in therapy 4-6 times a week . Not to mention I work full time, so how was I going to fit my own therapy in?!I bought this machine on a chance and let me tell you! One week I've used and I went from pain 6-7(a lot of pain) to like a 1-2(minimal) ! And that's a week! I'm going to see a physical therapist for a couple sessions to guide me on resistance and how often I should use but after a week I notice an AMAZING change. Had my dr recommended this years ago it would have changed my life!So happy I bought this I use like 15 min a day ...Game Changer people! 5My muscles on left side are now so painful I am back to taking PercocetI think this device has actually caused more harm to my neck. I have tried so many different ways the pain comes back. Its like the device at therapist, I would actually feel so good after those office visits on there machine this is a dangerous product. Lost so much money can't return cause I waited to long, I kept giving it a chance to work 1Magnificent traction deviceI use this almost every day for 20 minutes at a time (doctor recommended). At first, I didn't notice too much, but after a few days it began to make a world of difference. I went from taking Percocet twice a day down to once a week or less. I still take acetaminophen a few times a week depending on how hard I push myself with work and yard work, but the meds are way down.As for the reason I went with this model of traction device, it all has to do with where the tension is placed. You see, the cheep over the door type and inflatables cause me TMJ and I can't stand that on top of my already large list of pains. This device places the tension on the back of the head and across the forehead. I love it now that I am use to using it. 5
