A godsend for postpartum fertility awareness. We use it ...A godsend for postpartum fertility awareness. We use it with the Marquette Method of NFP and it has been a game changer for us. Would give it 6 stars if I could! 5A necessary evilAfter using these fertility monitor test sticks, and the corresponding fertility monitor for over a year in an attempt to conceive, I have gained quite a bit of experience with them. Overall, I find them very frustrating to use, but effective. I'm not sure if it is the sticks or the monitor, but they are very finicky. Several times during each cycle, I get the very annoying message that error number 7 has occurred, which means that "the absorbent sampler was not kept pointing downwards or the Test Stick was not laid flat after urine was applied" or that "too much or too little urine was applied". What the heck? There have been days when I have had to go through 3 sticks before it worked, and I can assure you that I was holding the absorbent sampler downwards and then keeping the test stick flat. I have no idea if I'm applying "too much or too little urine". I have learned to always collect my urine in a cup (never pee on the stick! Error #7 is more likely to occur, AND it is harder to test again because your urine is gone). I have also learned not to discard my urine until I have a result on the fertility monitor. The packaging of these test sticks is also frustrating (each stick is individually wrapped). They are not clearly marked with which end should be opened, and the absorbent tip is open when you open the package. The package is also difficult to open. After a year of use, I noticed that there is a very small notch on one end of the packaging to help with opening it, but is doesn't help that much. I wouldn't recommend against using these fertility monitor test sticks, as I'm not sure that there are other good options out there, but there are lots of design flaws in the sticks and monitor itself that make them difficult to use. 3Awful!! Just awful!This is the most frustrating device! If you are a minute late with your pee stick the computer will not accept it and you have to wait until the next day, it is very rigid and not set up to be flexible at all. If your cycle goes over a certain amount of days you will need to reset it to put in another cycle. It is ridiculous. You set up the times you will insert your pee stick, BUT once you set those times, you can only enter the pee stick at those times....you also have to manipulate the machine when setting up your cycle so that is actually reads DAY ONE as DAY ONE. This machine is hard for me to explain, so in little words, just buy the sticks that tell you at that very moment, don't waste your money on this machine - it will only frustrate you in the end. It says it collects your monthly data....give me a BREAK...it tells you when your cycle stopped, started, and that is it. You can keep better records of your cycle than this thing can...plus, you have to have several cycles entered for it to tell you anything. Just get an excel worksheet or a calendar, this is NOT worth it. The sticks also cost $30+....so it is an expensive and frustrating item, not to mention when a stick fails, the entire machine tells you to check the next day....well, what if it was a peak day when the machine and pee stick failed, then you lose that knowledge. So if you do buy this machine, have back up sticks because sticks fail for some reason and you don't want to lose the data for that day, especially if it is a peak day! I am SO happy I did! Initially, I wasn't impressed because it wasn't detecting a surge and I was almost to cycle day 20. I started thinking I either wasn't ovulating or this thing just wouldn't work for me. Well, low and behold, it finally detected a surge on day 22 and I ovulated on day 23. I would have completely missed this window had I not stuck it out with this thing! Our first born is due May 11th <3 5Definitely need to have sex on peak days....I m pregnant after 3 cycles.I m 37 and it took me 3 months to get pregnant. I already have a 5 year old. I recently suffered a stillbirth at 23 weeks (back in April 2017) and after trying to get pregnant in August with no luck, figured I would go back to Clearblue for help via their fertility monitor.To get pregnant with my 5 year old, I used this monitor (older version) and got pregnant on the second cycle. With my current pregnancy, I believe it took 3 cycles to get pregnant because the previous 2 cycles I did not have sex on the peak days. The cycle I got pregnant, had sex on the first peak day.My advice to couples is that this monitor is a good tool to have but ensure you have sex on either one of the peak days or both to maximize your chances. Also, it s a bother but try to chart your basal body temperatures. It will help you to ascertain whether what the monitor has told you is correct.A mistake that I had made with the monitor was to set the testing window at 5am - 11am which meant I could test anywhere between those hours. The problem with that is, if your LH surges at let s say 1pm, you would have missed your opportunity (if you have a short surge) and by the time you test the next day, the monitor may not show the peak (since the LH surge was short). So, what I did the cycle I got pregnant was to change the testing window to start at I believe 12pm and I would test at 2pm instead. That gives the monitor the opportunity to better catch the LH surge.The monitor is costly and the sticks are as well but totally worth it in the end.I also used the clear blue digital to get my positive.Good luck to all couples trying to conceive. Be patient, be positive and definitely take your prenatals when trying to conceive. 5So thankful I bought thisWe have been trying to get pregnant with our second child for 2 years, 2 very long years. I came across this monitor that's afordable so I decided to go ahead and try it. It was the best decision ever. This is the end of the first month using it and I just got my positive pregnancy test. If you have any doubts about it pull the trigger. 5Warning1. This product does not work for everyone. If your LH surge lasts for less than 24 hours this will not be the test for you as with this particular product you may only test once a day. You may only test with your first urine in the morning. Perhaps Clearblue should reprogram this product to allow you to test your urine twice a day.2. This product is way too expensive not to work. The machine is $110. The test sticks are $40 for a box of thirty and since I have been using this thing for 3 months and had to use twenty sticks for each cycle the costs add up. Now with that being said if this product had worked for me the money wouldn t be an issue. But it didn t and it is.3. I contacted Clearblue about my concerns and why they assured me they were not accusing me of misuse they listed a long list of reasons it was my fault that I never received a peak fertility. I assure you I read the directions several times and did not fail to follow any of the procedures.4. Because I did not trust this machine after the first month I started using the cheap (inexpensive) ovulation strips. There are many brands out there. I have received positive results with these strips. Because they are so inexpensive I test 4 times a day when I know that I am about to ovulate.PS:I do not want to trash Clearblue just this particular product. Clearblue has other less advanced digital ovulation tests that work far better. 1Be careful....This does not work for all women. If the monitor does not detect an LH surge you will end up going through almost twenty sticks in one cycle. I want to point out that these test sticks run about $40 for 30 and if you're taking 20 in one cycle, you're going to be spending a pretty penny on these sticks. I had three cycles and not once did it detect an LH surge. I asked to return this item and Amazon was very gracious and willing to refund my money. If you are trying to get pregnant (or trying not to get pregnant) be aware that you might be spending a lot of money with this. I'm not saying don't get it, but buyers need to be aware that not all women will have their surges detected. 2Does the jobBought these to use with clearblue advanced digital ovulation test (even though it states you're not supposed to) and it worked. 5
