Customer Reviews

Tastes great! No issues in the Keurig either!Great tasting coffee! Works fine in our Kurieg 2.0 as well. I used to purchase large boxes of K-Cups at one of the wholesale "clubs" until I found this brand here on Amazon! You actually get MORE cups here and for about $10-$15 cheaper than at the club!5Caza Trail is Best K-Cup Value; we like Coastal > Kona > Medium >> DarkCaza Trail is the Best K-Cup Value on Amazon and Coastal Blend is the Best Flavor. It's unfortunate that Amazon lumps all Caza Trail reviews together so if you are looking for reviews on a particular flavor you have to do a lot of digging. We have now tried 4 of the flavors that are available as 100 ct packs, which are the only ones we buy because of the price per ct. My wife and I agree (not always the case) that our preference is Coastal Blend > Kona Blend > Medium Roast Bold >> Dark Roast. We haven't tried Donut Shop or Breakfast Blend because we rarely prefer competing brands with those flavors. Please note that we usually use some dairy in our coffee and we prefer a blend that stands up to that, preferably with some additional flavor cutting through. I think the Dark Roast probably works for people who only drink coffee black or who like a really mild blend. The Dark Roast has no bitterness, which could be a good thing for black coffee but it means it is overwhelmed even by 2% milk (we like whole milk or half and half, but will go with 2% in a pinch). However you take your coffee, the Medium Roast is probably a good flavor to start with. It's definitely middle of the road and the reference to Newman's own is good, although I would say Caza Trail is better. Coastal blend has the same body as Medium Roast but with additional flavor that we find really appealing. I drink from large mugs and often and up mixing caffeinated and decaffeinated coffees. I find both the Coastal and Medium Roast blend well with each other and with other coffees I like. For me, that's the difference between the Coastal and Kona blends. Both have that distinctive extra flavor, but the Kona is more of a light aromatic acidity that while distinctive, doesn't really blend well with other coffees I like. If you only drink one flavor at a time, the Kona would be fine.Which brings me to the reason that Caza Trail is the Best K-Cup on Amazon. It's the only reasonably priced conventional K-Cup that has both good flavor and enough coffee per K-Cup to make a strong 12 oz coffee. Most Keurig coffee makers have a choice of sizes. Most often that works out to 6 oz, 8 oz, and 10 oz. I find that many K-cups make a strong enough small cup, but really can't go beyond the 8 oz size. All of the Green Mtn coffees not labeled "Bold" are essentially that way. But the ones they label as "Bold" or "Extra Bold" have more coffee per K-Cup. ALL of the Caza Trail Coffee's would be labeled as "Extra Bold" under this system. There is definitely the same amount of coffee in all of them, even though only the Medium Roast has Bold in the name. (That's so you know to compare it to Newman's Own, I think.)So why do I say you get a 12oz cup not a 10 oz cup. Well, try it yourself. if your machine has three settings, make a comparison between a cup made with the largest setting (10 oz) versus one made by using the small (6 oz) setting twice. You'll see that giving the grounds more time to soak in the water from the first small shot ends up providing extra non-bitter flavor for the second shot. It's the same reason that pour-over (manual) Malita coffee makers have you wet the grounds, pause, and then continue to pour your hot water. My experience is that 2, 6 oz shots produces both a larger AND a better tasting cup than a single 10 shot. Finally I say that Caza Trail is the best "conventional" K-Cup on Amazon because in terms of flavor and price, the San Francisco Bay coffees, particularly the Fog Cutter and French Roast, are just as good WHEN THEY ARE FRESH. My problem with the eco-friendly packaging of the SFB coffee is that I love variety and I just can't seal the bags long enough to keep the SFB coffee fresh. I know I should love creating less landfill waste (actually I burn the SFB cups so it's basically zero land fill waste) and I would if I was willing to drink one flavor at a time (and I could get my wife to do the same). It could be quibbled that SFB also has less coffee per k-Cup and so is more like a good regular than a good bold coffee. That's true, but I would still go with 8 oz cups of SFB over 12 oz cups of CT if they were all as good as they are when you first open the bag (so fresh). But for me the lack of shelf life makes it not even close. Caza Trail is better.5Delicious Coffee!I typically refrain from writing reviews unless I've been unusually satisfied or disappointed by a product. I purchased the Caza Trail Kona Blend after reading an article reviewing brands of k-cup coffee. When I saw the price of $34.99 for 100 ct. cups, I thought it must be a misprint, but decided to visit Amazon anyway. $34.99 for 100 k-cups was not a misprint! I ordered a box even though I doubted this coffee would taste worth a damn. To me and my husband's surprise, this is some of the BEST k-cup coffee we've ever had!! The taste is rich and full and would give any Kona bean, ground or k-cup a run for its money! With most things, I believe we get what we pay for...with this you get unbelievably MORE than you pay for.5Fair price, great flavor, no kidding!Ok first of all the reviews are high because this coffee has a great price. I think the price point is a good take away for this coffee, it's not cheap it is just a fair price. Look, good coffee doesn't have to be expensive. Some companies want to sell in volume because they are smarter then greedy companies who want an unfair profit. Enough said on price. Now second the reviews of flavor are not overblown. This Cana Trail Kona Blend is full of flavor that isn't burnt tasting. It's got a medium bite with a smooth pleasant finish. Just the way you want coffe to be. It's comparable to any of the delicious diner coffees that you wish you could get at home. I use a Carmel Machiato creamer and I don't need to add extra to cover a bad coffee taste, it's great! I save money on the coffee and the creamer.Third and last, this coffee is full flavored at 12 ounces. I use a large cup so cheap coffee doesn't work since it gets watered down. This is a full pod of coffee grounds, again a fair amount of coffee for a fair price. I would serve this to any of my family or friends and they would love it too. I honestly feel if you are not a "brand snob" you will truly enjoy this coffee! (No I don't work for the company, haha.)5Beware: Read only reviews for Kona BlendThis coffee is a weak medium blend and doesn't come close to having a hint of Kona. We purchased it because of the high marks many people gave. But, it's a trick that Amazon should look into. The 4 and 5 star reviews are a result of high marks for other flavors of coffee from this manufacture, and not this Kona blend. The majority of reviews on this so call Kona blend coffee is bad. Read the reviews, you"ll see for yourself. Don't buy this coffee.1When you order 100 cups...it better be good!Whew! Let's face it, if you're here shopping for a cost break via the 100 ct. bulk pricing, the one danger you risk is discovering you bought ALOT of a something you would just as soon use for fertilizer. What a huge relief to discover the positive reviews for Caza Trail Dark Roast are spot on. It is, indeed, absolutely delicious. On the prowl for a good deal, I've purchased the 100 count of other dark roast k-cups from club stores and felt reasonably satisfied with the taste. But nothing about the rich full bodied flavor of this roast suggest any cost cutting measures. In fact, there are some wonderful complex tones in this brew that rival far more expensive blends.Sure, it's just a cup of coffee, but it's really good and the price makes it even more appealing.5Good Coffee, Good ValueI make most of my coffee in a Keurig machine, and I drink a fair amount. To keep quality up and cost down, I mostly buy whole bean coffee, grind it myself, and brew it using a Ekobrew cup. With the right Ekobrew cup (the older brown plastic model), I can get a nice cup of coffee out of my Keurig machine, at a much lower price than any prepackaged K-cup.There are still times, however, that I want prepackaged K-cups -- for visitors, or if I don't have time to fill an Ekobrew cup. My go-to K-cup is the Cana Trail Sumatra. These are full flavored without being bitter or overly acidic. Amazon's price on a box of 52 is excellent, and the boxes I've received are always fresh. These cups are very good value.4Best cup of coffee I ever had!*Update: We compared the Caza Trail cups to some other brands, Kirkland Pacific Bold (dark roast), Donut Shop Dark, Newman's Own Medium - it turns out there is MORE coffee in the Caza trail cups. They felt a little heavier and when we looked at the cups through the light we saw that they have significantly more coffee in them and are also more packed. I uploaded a couple pictures, not the best quality pics, but you can see that the Caza Trail is almost completely full compared to the other brands. No wonder it's so good and strong no matter what size cup I go with! *I'm a coffee drinker. I mean, I love coffee. I like it black and typically a medium or dark roast. K-Cups can be a little pricey (well, when you really break down the cost it isn't so bad, but I'm really cheap), so I decided to try doing Subscribe & Save on Amazon. Caza Trail had some really good reviews, and the price was right up my alley. It got here on time (with my normal Subscribe & Save schedule). It was in a sealed box as pictured, and all the cups were in tact.I just had my very first cup of Caza Trail DARK Roast and I can't believe it. I was expecting some mediocre coffee because I've never really seen this brand (I love coffee but I usually stick to what I know), and it was on the cheaper side. It's AMAZING. I don't know what's going on in the cup, I can't accurately describe it without sounding like one of those annoying wannabe coffee aficionado people, but, there are hints of something else in there! I think floral or berry? It's extremely light but enough to notice and it's delicious. Also, this coffee is strong as hell, I'm buzzing right now! Two other people in the household have just tried it and agree, pretty damn good coffee.I plan on trying some of their other flavors soon!5Excellent FogChaser replacementSince Fogchaser is no longer available on Subscribe and Save, I had to search for another source. The Caza Trail Coffee Kona Blend was recommended by Amazon as a replacement, and it was a good recommendation.Incidentally, I also tried Coastal Blend. It's not bad, but it just didn't taste as good in a large cup. With the Kona Blend, I can actually do two "small" cups in a single mug and it ends up tasting better than a single large cup. It's a weird phenomenon. For people wanting to stick with San Francisco Bay company, their French Roast isn't that bad. But this Kona Blend, much log Fog Chaser, is somewhat a "medium/dark" roast which is what my preference is. With San Francisco Bay, a lot less plastic is used in their K-cups so you might feel better about the environment too, which is something to think about if your concerns about the environment outweigh the need for a good cup of coffee in the morning.(I drink my coffee black)5Five StarsI have tried 4 different Caza Trail Coffees over time. I have reviewed one. However it seems the one review is being applied to everyone I have tried. So here goes.COASTAL BLEND: The best of them all. Smoothe very low acidity a pleasure on the pallet.KONA BLEND: Extremely bold hands down. My first couple of sips and I thought I might have made a mistake. However I just wasn't used to the boldness. It's actually really good.DONUT SHOP: Very nice kind of inbetween Kona and Coastal Blend.BREAKFAST BLEND: Not a big difference between this and the donut shop blend.Regardless, I would tag all of them as FIVE STAR without hesitation.5
