Beware of IngredientsFormula for this product changed. First ingredient is now soybean oil which is high in omega6. Kind of defeats the purpose of taking the omega3 in cod liver oil which is supposed to help offset the effects of too much omega6 in the standard American diet. Makes no sense to include soybean oil in this product Carlson Labs. Used to be a great product, but I will never buy this again. 1Product seems fine but lacks any real certifying labels.For supplements all that really matters is certifying labels and this has none, then again almost all I buy do not have any real ones. Other than that its fine. 4High quality no flavor capsulesIf you take cod liver oil for your health, this is the way to go. These capsules feature the best, most pure source of cod liver oils. The casing of the capsule is of different ingredients than most. This results in there being no flavor or nasty burps later. My fiancee, who cannot stand fish, and has for years avoided cod liver oil capsules despite the health benefits can take these no problem. After just a week of taking them her hip pain practically disappeared. My knee and joint problems are non-existent if I take these. Highly recommend, but consult your doctor first! 51,000 MG ROTTEN OR STALE CAPSULESVery disappointed. I usually buy the 460mg capsules, the flavor is very mild and clean... always impressed with the quality!I took a chance with these 1,000mg capsules expecting the same quality but the flavor is terrible! Expiration is 7/2021 but it tastes rotten or stale, it s a stark contrast to the 460mg capsules from the same company... No return available. Should have stuck to the 460mg capsules because I just wasted $30 :( 1Relatively desirable source of Omega 3's . suited to human needs.Everyone seeks Omega 3 lipids, Only open ocean (NOT "farmed") sources provide the most desired array. That array reflects diet -, not calories, fed to source fish. So far - cod fish do not "farm" well. 5decent cod liver oilAs for the warning another reviewer provided about relative amounts of vitamins A and D, Google for "WAPF" and "cod liver oil" to see the rebuttal.Also for the reviewer who said this is tasty, ummm... you're reviewing the wrong product. These are capsules, they don't taste at all.Though not enteric-coated, these do not give me fish burps.This product is on the WAPF list as "good" (only fermented cod liver oil is "best" and I find even the capsules of FCLO too nasty).It contains 2000 IU vitamin A, 400 IU of vitamin D, 80 mg EPA and 100 mg DHA. WAPF suggests the equivalent of 10000 IU daily, so that would be 5 of these pills. In contrast, the Swanson product Double-Strength Cod Liver Oil 250 Sgels requires 4 pills daily.As with the Swanson product, since I have heart disease, I do not feel these provide enough EPA & DHA, so I also take Kirkland Signature Enteric Coated Fish Oil Omega 3 1200 MG Fish Oil, 684 MG of Omega 3 Fatty Acids, 180 softgelsThese also have 10 IU vitmain E added as a preservative. The "other ingredients" listed include gelatin, glycerin and water (same as the Swanson product) and retinyl palmitate and cholecalciferol (vitamins A & D). Though those are the "right" vitamins A & D, the bottle does not state their source (Swanson states their vitamins A & D are FROM cod liver oil), so if that matters to you, you should get the Swanson product.I find either satisfactory, and tend to order depending on what is the best deal at the time that I need to replenish supplies. 5The only way to get unprocessed cod liver oil, looks like a really excellent product.This is an excellent product. Unfortunately I found out that I can't easily consumer fermented products (due to their increased Histamine and other amine content) and this cod liver oil has unfortunately also some of those amines. I know this because it triggers my asthma problems like any other fermented foods do.On the other hand I do understand how this oil is derived and this sounds ilke a great process to get the best cod liver oil, totally natural and unprocessed as it is just released when the liver ferments away and the oil floats to the surface of the water solution where it is harvested. Everyone who has ever fermented soemthing at home (like saurkraut for example) is familiar with the process and information around fermenting. It seem tha t the word "fermenting" is quite misunderstood by a lot of folks. It is not the oil people which is fermented, it is the liver so the oil is released.So - great stuff, I had a bunch of capsules. But unfortunately had to stop due to my Histamine issue. 5Simply the Best.I don't like fatty fish (Mackerel) but know I should have some intake of fish oil. Carlson fish oil from Norway is run through a molecular sieve to remove PCBs, Mercury, etc. This is the best cod liver oil product IMO. 5Good Cod Gems!These Carlson Cod Liver Oil Gem are the best! Me and my family have taken these gems for almost a year now. Our Cod gems are really good at keeping us healthy and energized. I definitely recommend them for a healthier body and immune system. 5called company and they said only 8% of vitamin A ...called company and they said only 8% of vitamin A comes from cod liver oil 92% comes from synthetic source and 100% of vitamin D comes from a natural source but not from the cod liver. Very deceiving product i will not be using or buying from this company ever again. Wish i could give less then 1 star 1
