Gentle on the skinAs an ostomy patient I am replacing a wafer device surrounding the stoma every 5-6 days and was getting severe skin irritation where I taped the wafer in place.I have found that for me the wafer device needs additional support to hold securely for up to a week. Adding a surrounding fringe of adhesive tape did the trick but wreaked havoc with the skin when removed. I had problems even when using the proper powder and skin preps. Switching to 3M Micropore tape has solved my excoriation problems. The tape is very gentle to the skin. Now the trade-off is that it does not stick real tight or stay stuck very long so I over tape the Micropore paper tape with 3M's Transpore plastic tape. The Transpore tape alone works pretty well but using it to secure the Micropore tape works best. Thus I extend and reinforce the wafers own adhesive by 2-3 inches on all sides with only about 1/2 inch of skin exposed to the Transpore tape. This set up works for me and my skin lesions have disappeared. 5BETTER THAN A HAND BRACEThis tape is very interesting. I developed carpal tunnel and tried various braces, non helped, sweaty, uncomfortablethumb positioning. This tape is see thru, lightweight, can be flexible in areas where a single layer is placed and supportivein areas using several of these thin layers, and I was able to prevent stiffening, swelling, and loss of strength of fingers. When I needed additional support I put a layer of 3M Durapore over it. Both tapes are excellent. 5I'm Stuck On It!This is the same stuff that my doctor uses and it works very well. It is NOT perforated, but it tears, or cuts, very easily. It adheres very well to skin and dressings, but if you're using it around a joint area, you'll probably have to use it a couple of times to find out how to apply it for the best results. Removal is easy (after the first couple of uses, the hair will be gone, so THAT won't hurt anymore), and it leaves little to no residue.I've noticed that if, after application, you put your hand(s) over it for about 30 seconds to warm it up a little, it will help to increase the adhesion. Even perspiration doesn't seem to effect its performance. And, if you've torn a little too much off of the roll, just ball it up and let the cat(s) have a good time! It's a very good product. 5Works extremely well without adding bulk to injured areaI ordered this type of 3M tape by mistake but didn t have time to exchange it as I was going on vacation and there wasnt time. I had to make due. I have eczema on the back of my heels and have to tape them to avoid developing open sores when walking. This tape is paper and quite thin so it works well without adding a lot of bulk under my socks (The thicker tape made my feet bigger and shoes tighter). The skin has to be dry and without any moisturizer on it for the adhesive to stay...but it works o.k. under socks if you tape the heels up well. Would give it 5 stars if adhesive worked better. 4Helps keep colostomy appliance dry while showeringI was looking for a way to keep my colostomy appliance dry while showering. After some testing, I've found the best solution is a combination of the Nexcare Sensitive Skin Tape (1 inch) and the 3M Micropore Paper Tape (2 inch wide). Hospital staff showed my how to used 3M Micropore paper tape (2inch wide) to tape a plastic bag over the colostomy appliance/bag. However, the 3M tape does absorb water so it was hard to prevent the appliance flange from getting wet. When I tried the Nexcare Sensitive Skin Tape for taping the bag, I also had trouble keeping the appliance flange dry. The Nexcare tape is waterproof but is also stiffer and would sometimes lift off of the skin at various points. Now I tape a plastic bag over the appliance first with the Nexcare Sensitive Skin Tape. Then I tape over the 1-inch Nexcare tape with the wider 2-inch 3M Micropore Tape so that the 3M tape completely covers the Nexcare tape. I get the waterproof protection of the Nexcare tape with the 3M Micropore tape holding the Nexcare tape in place so it doesn't lift off when I bend or twist as I'm showering. 5Wonderful product for sensitive skin and allergies to adhesives, plus a great buy!!! shipped quickly and arrived undamaged.I have extremely sensitive skin and have a true allergy to virtually all adhesives .But this tape, though not claiming to be "hypoallergenic" as some other claim, is the only tape I can use for any length of time over 5 minutes which will not create whelps, bumps, redness, itching, or take part of my skin off when the tape is removed. In addition, just one 2 inch roll at the local drugstore costs what this entire box cost! So definitely a great buy. As an RN, I have worked with at least a dozen types of tapes- all useful for varying circumstances. This tape is breathable, flexible, will not immediately come off in water and is excellent for delicate, thin, and sensitive skin. It's ability to adhere to the skin without causing problems is great, but you have to be sure the area of where the tape will be placed is clean and very dry. It is also essential to hold down/press/smooth out the tape with warm hands and allow it to adhere to the skin for a few minutes. If you apply it to an area where it will bunch up (say the inside area of the arm where it folds at the elbow), then extend the arm straight out to apply and follow the holding/pressing down of the tape so it will stick to the skin. After you have done this, bend the arm and notice that the tape should fold in with the bend, but remain on the skin, though after a time it may crease and if the area becomes sweaty or excessively dirty, the tape may begin to some off. The drawback to the tape (as with almost ANY tape) is that, when used in hot environments and moving your body frequently, the tape tends to crease and adhere to the skin "tighter" and it may become uncomfortable. For long term use for a chronic or slow healing wound, practice which angle and tape application works best and follow the instructions in the next part of this comment, whether you change the dressing just 1 or 2 times a day, this will help with costs and help spare the patient's skin and more pain. When having to perform multiple dressing changes daily it is best to first put down pieces of tape on the skin where the tape will go, then apply the bandage and tape it down to the tape already on the skin, therefore, you will not have to peel tape off the skin each dressing change. Change the barrier tape every day or even 2 days if it's still clean. If difficult to get off the skin, use a little non-scented lotion/cream to the edges and slowly add a bit more to remove it. Just remember to clean the area with soap & water and dry well before applying more tape. If possible, allow skin to be cleansed, dried, and aired out before applying again. good luck! . , 5Best tape that I have foundI LOVE that this tape is 2 inches wide. It is so much easier to keep things things in taped down. It stays put without tearing my skin apart and it is breathable. I had been buying the one inch width tape over the counter at the drug store but I just needed a wider with. . This comes with 6 rolls of 2 inch wide tape at a really good price In my personal opinion. One other important fact , is that I am not allergic to this tape. I. Am allergic to so many of the others. This tape is perfect.. I have 6 rolls so I don t know when I will be running out, but if o do. This is whar I will stick with! 5Not a good idea for sleep aidI bought this tape due to a couple of reviews saying that it was good for keeping your mouth closed while you slept. I have a problem with having an open mouth most of the time when I sleep, which leads to snoring and dry, dry mouth. When you first apply the tape, it holds your mouth closed very well. If you take it off after only a mintue or two (testing it), there is no problem. But, if you apply it before going to bed, after a couple of hours it is very difficult to remove. Seems like it dries out, and just about takes the skin off when removed. If you're looking for a good sticky paper tape for bandages or first aid, it's good (6, or 10 rolls is way too much!!!) But if you want it for sleep, it's not too good. 3and a bit dirty inside. ( i got help from amazoni've bought this from several sellers. a couple times it arrived with open flaps on the box, and a bit dirty inside. ( i got help from amazon.) But otherwise the product itself is usually pretty good. Fairly easy to use for a large bandage. HOWEVER IT DOES STRETCH OVER TIME. so it loosens up, if you use it on a large area. I used it on top of bandage material, otherwise it is a bit too hard to remove from skin. That can be remedied by wetting it or rubbing with diluted alcohol to remove it.i was a bit p.o.'d when the price went up AS IT SAT IN MY CART, before i checked out! so i decided to put off re-ordering. that just bothered me. 3Cured My Sleep Apnea/Dry Mouth!I know this may sound silly but it works! Tape your mouth shut. Use 3M Microfibre surgical tape found in Walgreens or CVS. It can also be found on Amazon significantly cheaper. My wife thought it looked silly but is a believer now that she doesn't have to listen to me snoring. This also cures dry mouth and IMHO sleep apnea. I know that's a big leap but if your mouth doesn't open I don't think you'll have sleep apnea. (This statement has not been evaluated by the FDA nor is it likely to be since it is not a piece of heavy machinery or a drug). 5
